I know the insurance companies have the last word on who gets hired.

A FMCSA certificates costs $500, so do companies test drivers who get a CDL on their own?
and if you don't pass the tests you get to go their school, but if you pass it you get directly routed to the training period are there companies like that?.

Some food service companies will hire you as a driver helper. Some food service companies will hire with only the cdl permit; Sygma Network is one of them.

That depends on who "they" is. I never went to cdl school or got any fancy training certificate. Heck never even been in a sleeper truck but I did run my nightly linehaul run pulling a hazmat load last night.

You can find a job without experience or school. It just takes a little more leg work.

Not like that anymore... as off March 17, 2017 when the three year phase in of ELDT...

    1. FMCSA published an entry-level driver training (ELDT) rule?

The ELDT final rule enhances the safety of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operations on our Nation’s highways by establishing more extensive entry-level driver training (ELDT) requirements. It revises the mandatory training requirements for entry-level operators of CMVs who are required to possess a Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) or a hazardous materials (H), passenger (P), or school bus (S) endorsement for their license for the first time. The Final Rule also responds to a Congressional mandate imposed under Section 32304 of the “Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act” (MAP-21).

    2. Who is subject to ELDT?

The rule establishes minimum training requirements for entry-level operators of CMVs in interstate and intrastate commerce who are applying for a Class A or Class B CDL, an upgrade of their CDL (e.g., a Class B CDL holder seeking a Class A CDL), or a hazardous materials (H), passenger (P), or school bus (S) endorsement for their license for the first time. The ELDT requirements do not apply to individuals holding a valid CDL or a P, S, or H endorsement issued before the compliance date of the final rule.

    3. Who is exempt from ELDT?

The ELDT requirements are aligned with the existing CDL regulations in part 383. The rule does not create any new exceptions; therefore, any individual who is currently excepted from taking a skills test in order to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL or a P or S endorsement is not subject to ELDT.

WHAT is the minimum mandated entry-level driver training (ELDT) curriculum/program?

    4. What training is FMCSA generally mandating in the ELDT Rule?

Beginning on the compliance date of the rule, no “Entry-Level Driver” may take a CDL skills test to receive a Class A CDL, Class B CDL, Passenger (P) Bus endorsement, or School Bus (S) endorsement unless he/she has successfully completed a mandatory theory (knowledge) and behind-the-wheel (BTW) training program, or, in the case of a Hazardous Materials (H) endorsement, mandatory theory training that: (a) is provided by a Training Provider listed on FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR), and (b) is appropriate to the license/endorsement for which that person is applying.

The FMCSA itself does not issue/sell certificates. The minimum training levels have been in place for several years.

    §380.503 Entry-level driver training requirements.
Entry-level driver training must include instruction addressing the following four areas:

    (a) Driver qualification requirements. The Federal rules on medical certification, medical examination procedures, general qualifications, responsibilities, and disqualifications based on various offenses, orders, and loss of driving privileges (part 391, subparts B and E of this subchapter).

    (b) Hours of service of drivers. The limitations on driving hours, the requirement to be off-duty for certain periods of time, record of duty status preparation, and exceptions (part 395 of this subchapter). Fatigue countermeasures as a means to avoid crashes.

    (c) Driver wellness. Basic health maintenance including diet and exercise. The importance of avoiding excessive use of alcohol.

    (d) Whistleblower protection. The right of an employee to question the safety practices of an employer without the employee's risk of losing a job or being subject to reprisals simply for stating a safety concern (29 CFR part 1978.

    Im confused.

You go get your CDL, that is your main document for getting hired to drive a big truck. Everything else falls on case by case. Not everyone gets hired on for that.

I think the OP might be confused as to what certificate they are asking for. When I was narrowing down the list of possible places to start, many told me if I opted to attend training on my own, I needed to make sure the school I chose had a minimum of 160 hours of training, and they issued a certificate stating such. It is issued by the School, and some will call the school and ask for verification.
