To make a long story short, I been at my company for 3 months and I been going to this reciever frequently to deliver steel coils. During this time I would wear the ppe they wanted me to wear. Hard hat with Bill facing forward, long sleeves, Kevlar sleeves on the outside of the long sleeve shirt you are already wearing, steel toes, pants, etc. There's a lot.
Well just the other day the safety guy came up to me with an attitude demanding I wear ear plugs. I showed him the paper and said they are not required because it's not on the paper. He started throwing a fit about it and I guess now they have an updated ppe sheet with even more ppe to wear. I'm all for safety, don't get me wrong but some of this stuff is just ridiculous. You can whisper to each other in that building. My truck is louder than everything in there.
I guess I didn't really make a long story short after all lol. Im just wondering if a reciever can force you to wear ppe while delivering there
Can a shipper/receiver force you to wear ppe?

Told him i was a flatbed driver not a tanker.
He later gave me a write up to turn into my company, I tore it up in front of him and told him to get his #### off my trailer.
I had yet to sign bol so it technically wasn’t mine.

If someone comes to visit your house and you ask them to remove their shoes before entering, and they refuse, do you still have to let them in?

Standard flatbed PPE you should have
Long pants
Steel toed boots
Reflective vest
hard hat
safety glasses amber or clear for indoor or dark areas tinted are ok for outdoors
Above that if the shipper or receiver has additional requirements, they should supply them for your temporary use. Once they supply them yes, they can enforce your using them.
I had a place I used to pick up from that required you to use a safety harness and guideline to get on your trailer and tarp. The had the harnesses there for the drivers to use.broke down plumber, Albertaflatbed and snowlauncher Thank this.
