Congratulations on the new gig! It looks like you will be going to NYC:

New York City Bonus – Drivers are paid $100.00 extra for going into NYC.

    1. Go EARLY, like the other posters have said.
    2. Go into the city with a full tank. You don't want to get held up trying to leave while your tank's dry and be desperate!

MACK E-6, bryan21384 and skellr Thank this.

Lol, reminds me of "fuel routing software"...
go in and run low on fuel, cross a $50 dollar bridge to get fuel that's 3 cents cheaper, then cross the bridge again to come back.

Maybe NY really does suck that bad. :D

$50? It's over $100 for the GW northbound.

NYC isn't any harder than anyplace else - it's just hard for a longer duration.

A couple of months ago I was in Milwaukee by the lakefront. I'd been to the same place on Monday, no issues. On Wednesday, the had a cross street torn up for some kind of pipe. The detour was a glorified ally that I would have struggled to turn a bobtail into.

I pulled past, hit the 4 ways, stopped and took a walk. Talked with the construction guys and we made a plan. It took 15 minutes to make the turn.

On Tuesday I was at a plant in the middle of no place WI. They had turned their railroad docks into truck docks. Hard packed dirt/gravel with a series of lightpoles, telephone poles, and fire hydrants.

Later that day I put my sleeper with a 53 footer into a straight truck dock sandwiched between employee parking. Not too bad getting in, PITA getting out.

IMO the hardest part of NYC is trip planning around stupid appointment times.

Taking the GWB out is what happens when they don't plan the next load for you and expect you to find a place to sit and wait... Nope, no place to park so bail out to some I-95 service plaza. They won't send you back for a while. :D

I'll have to put that one in my bag of tricks. Pretty clever.
