My own situation is an out for the week, back home for a 34 regional carrier. We have a few guys that live in the trucks in the yard when they're back, but I wouldn't want to live that way. It really depends on the company. If you're not out on the road it'll be more of a situational thing depending on company.

I think what you are asking is whether they allow you to take a 34 on the road as opposed to in the truck and the answer is yes to both. You could even park at the truck stop and uber over to a rent a car place and drive off 500 miles and do your own thing overnight and come back, so long as your truck has rested for 34 hours, you will gain back a full 70 hour clock : - )
