This is a little complicated so please pay attention to my question. I have a nevada drivers license to operate my car. I use to live in california and i had a license 13 years ago an i ended up with a dui that i didnt take care of with dmv until 2 years ago during that time i was a residence of CA. I moved to nevada got a new drivers license under one condition and that was i could not move back to CA and get a license for 3 full years that is california law if i didnt complete the required dui class. My 3 years will be up in october of this year. So now i am back in CA on business 3 days out of the week every week and i am still a NV residence with a NV licence now i am headed to trucking school in california on the days i am in california will i be able to get a CA Cdl or can i attend school in CA and go to NV dmv and get my CDL? Can someone tell me my options?

You need a residential address in the state you want to issue your license in. Some require proof of residency like a light bill or some other utility being mailed to that address before you can get a license in that state.

Your best bet? Call the CA dmv if you want one there. Or NV. They will know the residency requirements.

...and if CA won't let you get a CDL, you won't be able to get one in ANY state. The DMV is required to check the CDLIS before issuing a new or renewed CDL...and if ANY state has any red flags indicating problems with your license, you'll be denied.

Make sure your license is in good standing with the state you've had issues with BEFORE spending money trying to get a license you may be ineligible to receive.

Well...I paid attention (as per your request) and you're right, it IS complicated.
As mentioned, your best bet is to contact the DMV in both states.
What I CAN tell you, is 3 years ain't gonna cut it with 99.5% of trucking companies' Insurance companies. They wanna see 5 to 7 (some times 10) year old DUI's...and your time starts from when the DUI punishment is issued (not the day you got busted).
It's your choice whether you wanna go ahead and go to school (they'll take your money)...but will you be hireable?

TransAm and Carolina Cargo will hire him. If he would go to cdl school in Nevada, he could pull it off.

Not complicated. -- You have a NV license. CA is out of the picture. You go to school in CA, but to get your CDL you must take the tests in NV. It does not matter what state you go to school in.

NOW, if you do turn in your NV license and CA will let you get a license, then when you finish the school you take the test in CA...

You take the test where you hold you state license, no matter what state you go to school in.

Ok well thank you however the date of the punishment was issued 13 years ago as mentioned and completed with the courts not the dmv the dmv
This was a cut and dry answer i appreciate it thank you.
One more thing isnt the state cdl drivers law different in each state? Meaning when i attend school in california high desert trucking will i be qualified to pass my nevada dmv cdl test?
