Look how close the next fuel stop is. I have 1 130 gallon tank. Ionly idled all night in Texas. But it doesn't ever move the stick as mentioned above. 16 cadcsdia

Runnin out of fuel is a tough racket, Runnin out of breath from walkin can be a hot Tamale. Lugging 5 gal pails one in each hand is uncomfortable for me that is. Then gettin this commodity into some tanks can be tricky.
I have found that 3 or 4 good drinks of the stuff from sucking on the end of a water hose can be beneficial in producing energy.
Then priming the pump and the phone ringin. Easier and cheaper to keep my tanks full especially in the Winter.

Risky business running ( or sitting) on a quarter tank in this here weather. Common sense should dictate here.

Yup especially with all the fuel shortages lately. Not worth it to run the risk of being low then getting slapped with multiple days of weather at a stop without fuel. Never run under half during winter if it can be avoided.

    Fuel "Gauges" are for show.
    Usually sorta maybe close.
Lotsa Drivers have "run outta fuel" despite the "gauge showing enuf".
Veteran Truckers used sticks to measure content.
Not always possible with "foreign object restraints" in neck.
I' ve been told varying Hourly Fuel Usage however "1 Gln Hour" appeared reasonably correct.
I ran on Mileage: 500-750 miles with/without Idling, Fill 'Er Up!
    NEVER had issues.
    CHEERZ!!

If he doesn’t come back, are we to assume he didn’t run out? I would think if he ran out, he’d be back to give those that told him he could make it a stern talking to.

Idling Is one thing, don’t hit a steep hill or have a sloppy shift to slosh fuel away from the pick up tube when you are moving in the morning …

The question, why did you park with 1/4 tanks. Would it not have only taken 10 to 15 minutes to fill tanks and be sure to have plenty of fuel.

Probably one of those stupid megas that only allow fueling in specific places and overload the truck so he can't do more than 1/2 a tank without going overweight.

And the newer trucks don’t seem to be sending as much warm fuel back to the tanks
So unless you have an actual tank heater I would t drop below 1/2 tanks

I rarely do in the summer

    Trucker61016 and 201 Thank this.
