Please don't stay too long in the chain up area.

I had a hell of a time chaining last night for the first time. Then finally got everything and ready to leave and Western Express flies in front of me and parks with his tail sticking way out to the road. That was fun getting around

Then I wasnt sure when/where to unchain. Drove down the mountain and one of my chains broke off when I got up to 35mph. So stopped on the shoulder and unchained. Not much room from me and right lane traffic.

    I made it though.

Location? I want to know which states to avoid. Let’s just say chaining isn’t really “my thing”..

35mph is too fast with chains on. 25mph max

It was in Colorado going from Denver to Grand Junction.

The last chain up I saw still had the lights flashing. So i rolled on, then the roads cleared, but nowhere to unchain. And those exits didn't look truck friendly.

So i kept going and trucks started passing me awfully fast. So i sped up a bit, then i saw sparks on the road and a chain went bye-bye.

Chaining isn't my thing either. But I'm glad I had a chance to do it. It was an experience for sure. Lol. I'll do it, but if I can avoid it and not be late, i probably will.

That interstate 70 in the winter is considered one of the least-liked freeways of all. I’m surprised you are being sent there. No wonder you had to chain.
