My company slipseated me a couple weeks ago, since then, the truck has been in and out of the shop constantly.
Currently, while transporting a long distance load, the truck broke down. It's now been in the local shop for 4 days.
Can I quit? Walk away? I feel like a prisoner stuck in a hotel.
Can I quit while on the road?

Well you could but depending on what you signed the company could charge you to recover the truck. They could also put equipment abandonment on your DAC. I would call your fleet manager. If you aren’t to far from home they should be willing to get you a rental car. If the equipment will be down for a long time they should reassign you to something else.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
That's gonna happen occasionally. How long have you been a trucker? I feel like a prisoner for most of 20 years out here. You can quit anytime you want, slavery is illegal, but a lot of times it ruins your cdl carreer .And you'll probably have to find your own way home. Good luck whatever you do.

Truck abandonement will follow you around. You will reduce your job choices by 75% easily.
Find a way to get that truck to where they want it first.UsualSuspect, Farmerbob1, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -

Don't quit. They will stick you with truck abandonment. Don't think you can drive that thing home either. That places you at risk of arrest for unauth use of vehicle. (I said risk..) these two can destroy your hireability.
Find the Officers supervising Dispatch, usually Head of Operations. Talk to him or her directly.
Stay there until that truck is fixed to your satisfaction. More than likely they will keep you in it now that's its fixed. Get going yer late. If they see that truck is a serious problem and breaks down again one state over, then the one solution might be a new truck, Remember it's costing them revenue and money too.WongK, UsualSuspect, Farmerbob1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Did you ask for breakdown pay? If you making a few bucks sit it out.explore the area you at.
