Computer is set to turn engine off at 180 seconds unless the wheels roll. The only way to idle is in opti-idle, which has a mind of its own. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. But the opti is designed to just turn on long enough to charge the battery and turn back off. It’s fun.

WE dud the same crap? Except here they are nicer and you get paid. Is it just the truck that's messed up? If it's 85 F pit will it run?

WE just did the same thing. When I was there you just pushed in the tractor brake and it would idle forever. Apparently their Christmas present this year was the gift of fuel savings, for themselves. No more idling. It hasn’t been hot enough to check yet, but supposedly my computer is set to allow idling if it’s below 20 and over 90. It did sometimes idle when it was below 20 at dollar general, but it still turned off most of the time regardless of the temperature being under 20.

    austinmike and 77fib77 Thank this.

When the truck is parked and idling, the heat & exhaust of the idling engine can sometimes be detected by the Outside Air Temp unless it's got some wind. That can cause the OAT to rise into the no-idle range & shut off the engine.

That’s exactly what I think was happening.

I believe the OAT sensor is inside the driver-side west coast mirror housing.

Lol. So you need to get blocks to get the drive axle off the ground. Set the red brake and put it in drive. Keep it below 5 mph, so you might need to be in reverse. Then you can be comfortable.
