And not all weeks will be money, got the good and the bad, like a $1500 part.
You ran that week for that part, you/company, it’s all the same in the end.
it’s not just fun and games, say a turbo goes.
$4000+$1000 actuator.
Gotta go to shop so they can match it with computer. say $6500 right there easy.
Can owner operators make 4k per week after all expenses and taxes?

The most recent week shows your income per mile as $2.17. But like you said, you are specialized with a hopper trailer and thus get higher rates. Also average repairs and maintenance per mile is probably .22/mile (or 2k per month). So really, more like $1.95 specialized with the hopper trailer, which is pretty much inline with the previously calculated $1.85. Looks like the rates for hopper trailers did not really tank like spot rate for van trailers did.Last edited: Aug 28, 2022

The "Easy Yes" appears to be true on Judge's operation, he seems to be doing everything you said and is specialized with a hopper trailer and his income per mile is $1.85-1.95. Can income per mile at today's spot rates using a van be high enough to make being an owner operator worth it? If so, then how? Can you show the detailed math for this?Last edited: Aug 28, 2022

I don’t see mileage put in there from 17-24…
but here it is

With those 2620 miles the income per mile comes out to $1.86, but that is without the average repair and maintenance expenses of .22/mile. So, actually the real income per mile is $1.64. Which is $3,690/wk if ran 2250 miles.Last edited: Aug 28, 2022

I once talked to the CEO of a major flatbed company, who told me after all his expenses, his trucks generated a profit of .03/mile.
If he can do it I can too!!
Granted he has probably 1000+ trucks at 100k mile/year, each still 3 million/ year profit.
Gotta look at the big picture not the little one. -
Detail math is gonna be hard to show since too many variables in the operation. I run a brand new truck with 5 year warranty so I have a lot less out of pocket for maintenance cost. I also run 50K to 60k for oil changes. My miles per gallon will be better as well then pulling a specialized trailer. Lots of ways to do it and it depends on location and how you plan on running.
Spot market can run from $1 a mile to $20 a mile. Dollar per mile does not do anything for me as I want to make a certain amount per month and that is all that matters to me. I know what I need to make on a run to be profitable if it gets down to that point.JoeyJunk Thanks this.
