Hi Kolorado, probably an "easy clutch". ( not sure of the correct term) Gone are the days of the R model Macks, that took both feet to hold it down at a stop.:biggrin_2559:

Nope, can't adjust a clutch anymore. Or the valve lash, the engine brake, or any of the accessory belts. Once the very first thing on your truck breaks, it's a boat anchor.

I'm joking, of course. but that does sometimes feel like it's the direction truck manufacturers are moving in. If you don't have excessive free play in the clutch pedal, you may have one of the "light weight" clutches that don't require as much pressure to engage/disengage. Yes, it feels weird if you've never had one before. But before long you' ll swear never to go back to a heavy clutch again! I had a light clutch in my last truck with my previous carrier and L O V E D it!

Any more details available (or did I miss them) about what truck you are driving?

I know the freightliner clutch is easier to press than its throttle pedal.

But the Volvo clutch is like a 60 lb leg press! Not friendly to a 50 year old skateboarding knee,

Could your assist be bad? Mine is very light to press.

Not sure what the assist is. I only drove one volvo after a few freightliners.

Then got into an automatic! For Chicago local I hope to never go back to a manual!

the stupid hydraulic clutch in my Volvo is light, not that i use it once im moving. I miss the "solid feel" of the cable clutches in the macks i used to drive.....

I run alot of two lane back roads hauling feed, so im not well aquainted with my clutch lol. But I HATE that i can't "feel" the hydro clutch like you can a cable/mechanical link...

....i double clutched that mack every #### time for almost 3 years, couldn't shift it smooth floating. My buddy is driving it now, says the same thing. My worn out Volvo, clutch is the get moving pedal lol

The only adjustment I know is the on the pedal and the clutch brake, Perhaps the clutch assembly needs a good lubrication? Sometimes it is an easy fix!
