Night driving is great . The biggest problem is how well your body handles it . There can be some serious health issues from lack of sleep.

Don't know why there need to be a lack of sleep, I prefer driving at night, generally I get running aboput mid-night, park by 13:00, pick of the spaces, never a parking issue, still have to shut down for 10 hours no matter when you start the rest period. My sleeper gets plenty dark when I close the curtains.

Some people can't sleep during the day with out drugs . I know a guy who did linehaul for only 5 years , all night. He was only sleeping every other day for a bit and eventually led to serious health problems and early retirement. Still even after quitting he has to take meds and still will occasionally stay up for 3 days and his mental processing is slowed. That's a pretty extreme case but some people just cannot do nights

Most problems that happen when working nights are from people trying to live half in the daytime world and half in the nighttime world. Commit to working nights like day-timers commit to working days. I worked nights for 18 years. I maintained my "normal" sleep schedule all week long. I DID NOT "stay up way past my bedtime" on my first day off to do daytime things. I DID NOT skip sleeping before my first day back at work. Just because I was home at 1130 am DID NOT mean I could run errands for someone with a M-F 9-5 job. I am asleep and NOTHING is more important than my sleep. None of the people making demands on your time during the day will be awake with you at 3:45 am while you try to stay awake in bad weather.

Exactly, you gotta get that rest. You can't party all day. It's like people who drink all afternoon Sunday than wonder why everyone is talking too loud and lights are too bright Monday morning.

Then he should not drive at night, no one here is advocating for day or night driving, If I have a problem with what a company wants including driving (especially) hours, and we can't resolve it, theres plenty of companies around that need good drivers.

I run nights all the time. Back when I was on LTL line haul I would get up at 6pm when the wife got home from work, spend a few hours together, she would go to bed about 9:30 as I was leaving for work. I get home about 6am as she is getting up, spend a few hours together and she heads off to work, I get a couple of hours to myself to get whatever I need to get done done and then head to bed about 10.

Worked out pretty good. I have always been nocturnal. Still am.
