I do not know what to do. I was diagnosed with cancer the end of last year I have not been driving every since I miss my job and everything that I have worked for I am about to lose and I know it’s not much fun out there, but I could use some help from the brothers, used to be that we we would stick stick with each other and help each other but I just don’t know what to do. My mom‘s been paying my truck payment. I’m waiting on Social Security for young drivers. I was I would say always put something something away just in case you have an emergency anybody has any advice for me please I just don’t know what to do, I went to the Saint Christopher organization through OOIDA and they help one months on the truck but that was it.

Money and material things don't matter as much as your health.
Hope you're doing better.flood, snowlauncher, tscottme and 4 others Thank this. -
If you are not able to work then you should sell your truck instead of asking for help paying the bill.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'waiting on Social Security for young drivers'.dunchues, Suspect Zero, Crude Truckin' and 3 others Thank this. -

I have always been of the thought that when it is my time to die, I will just try to die gracefully.
No extraordinary means, no using funds from other sources to prolong my life just a few more months at a cost of thousands of dollars (or hundreds of thousands) just to keep me around a little longer. To me, it just seems a bit selfish for no good reason.bentstrider83, The one california kid, Flat Earth Trucker and 7 others Thank this. -
Don’t know what prognosis is or how serious your cancer is. Did they tell you what stage it is and if it’s likely treatable has it spread or what. You said you miss being out on the road and I I get that, but right now you need to focus on your health priority number one and if I were you, I would sell your truck and forget anything to do with trucking until you get your health back because if you don’t, it’s not gonna matter anyhow. Spend time with your family and those you care about and if it’s meant for you to somehow find your way back on the road you will. Did you have any long-term disability or anything like that?

Welcome aboard, driver, you are among friends here. You are crossing a bridge many of us would love to ignore, and did a darn good job of it too. For most when hearing the news, it's an initial shock, but being a truck driver, we kind of expected it all along. Wonderful strides have been made in treatment. My sister died of a brain tumor in 2000, and the doctors told us, they were unsure what to do, but her treatment, that failed, may help someone down the line. With a diagnosis like that, I don't know if you'll ever get a med card again, and maybe a good sign. I'm almost 70, and think everyday about dying, but I moved to the Rocky Mountains, and when I go, at least I'll be 7,000 feet closer to God, I hope. If things settle down, the last thing I'd be thinking about is work. Good luck, pal.

I knew a guy next door told he had cancer and was given x to live and was too late to do much of anything so during that time he would sit in a chair outside waving as people drove by because he knew that all he could do did that all day everyday till x day arrived and didn't wake up... I didn't know him personally but at the end of the day our name will be called and you can go kicking and screaming or quietly but one way or another you will go into it all anyone can hope they lived a good life thats all we can ever want.
Opendeckin Thanks this.
