Cannonball Run ---New record // Coast to Coast

With the technology the police has for surveillance nowadays plus regular people's ability and willingness to report you.. That just isn't feasible anymore. Got to play with today's gadgets.

 

When US Air Force retired the SR-71 spy plane it’s last flight set a record for Los Angeles to Washington DC in 64 minutes.

My first trucking Job,the father, now retired, was proud of his trip back from kenworth to NJ with two of his and another guy's new 1965 conventionals decked...4 days 4 hours and 47 minutes.....

No interstates then!

and the ex-driver who bought it when the old man retired sold it in 1978 with a Million miles. He cleaned and repainted the frame every spring, looked showroom...

 

Not sure I buy this story. Doesn’t pass the BS test IMO. These guys would be in huge trouble in no time If they were hitting some of the speeds they claimed on public highways. “Didn’t run into any cops” lol yeah right.

 

Not sure I buy that one either but supposedly that aircraft was capable of 2000+ knots and could literally outrun anything you could fire at it. (Not sure if that’s still true)
