Hi guys, I just picked up a 2007 and after pretripping I can't get the hood to latch. Any suggestions?

Both sides won't latch? Did you leave anything under there so it won't close all the way?

Push down on fender with your forearm until you hear the click.

If the hood won't latch the problem is usually the locking jaws need grease or the jaws are not closing all the way.
You will need to manually open and close it to check the operation and for excessive wear.
If that still doesn't help, the hood pins on the hood and the locking jaws that are mounted on the inner fender wells are worn out.
They will need to be replaced.Last edited: Apr 23, 2017
Truckmiles61 Thanks this. -
Yeah I've never had both sides not lock at once, usually it's just one side that messes up. Lot of times the cable slips out, or just an adjustment, plus like the other op said, gotta greaser' up. Use that white lithium grease, I find that not as messy.

Heck it as like something is holding it just far enough out to keep it from latching. I actually stood on the pass. side fender to sort of get it latched but it pops back out when I try it on the drivers side.

I only weigh about 110 so that isn't as impressive as it sounds lol.

Well check around and see if something is keeping it from closing, like up on the lip where the wipers are, or on the top of the engine. There shouldn't be that much pressure to pop it back out, both sides? Check the locks and make sure the jaws are closing properly.

There is a cable that when you pull the hood release under the steering wheel unlatches the hood. What you may need to do is take a wrench to the clamp at the latch end and loosen the clamp and let out some more cable to make it just a little longer. Re-tighten the clamp and close/latch the hood.
