I signed on with my current company directly out of school with a 6 month contract. My contract is about to end, and I am deciding where to go from here. I am content with my current company, so staying is an option. My current job pays $0.36 and I get around 3000 miles per week. I get along well with dispatch Etc. Unfortunately they do not run West of the Mississippi River. Here's a list of what I am looking for in a company if I do switch:
1. Be able to get home time In Knoxville Tennessee and Milwaukee Wisconsin
2. Be off at least every third weekend
3. Pay that is as good or better than I am getting now
4. Runs Coast to Coast. (New England not required)
5. Auto shift trucks
6. I do not want to have to retake the DMV physical because I still have 18 months left on my medical card.
Additional information about me. I do not have any tickets or accidents, with my personal vehicle or commercial vehicle. A spotlessly clean criminal record. I do not want Hazmat or doubles. I am aware that I may not find anything better than what I have now with only six months of experience. Thank you in advance for any input, whether it be good bad or ugly.

I'd stay for another 6 months and reconsider hazmat, doubles, and tanker.
Congrats for staying 6 months in the industry.akfisher Thanks this. -

If you can do you own taxes, I would recommend Hirschbach to you. Automatics, good income. Their lease is a lease with the option to buy and is not a way to end up with a truck. I know they have openings and lots of runs to Wisconsin and Tennessee.

My advice is this. Since your content where you are then stay. Get at least one to two (preferably two) years in with that company so you can show stability. It will only make your resume look much better then if you were to leave after six months. Get all your endorsements while you put in your time so you can have many options to choose from when you get to the point of moving on.
Endorsements are cheap and you don't have to use them if you don't want to, but they are always good to have. I know there are some companies that will increase your CPM for having a hazmat endorsement even if you don't haul that particular thing. They are just good to have.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
