2578 miles for the holiday week. Outstanding considering I was home for the holiday and lost a good chunk of another day having a PM done and renewing my med card. This week, got started outta the house late Monday night. Refused load from QVC Rocky Mount to Lasership in Charlotte. Told Josh I waited 7 hours on two trips didn't get any detention and for 240 miles, it was a colossal waste of my time. I did offer to take that load and drop it at our Charlotte yard, figuring our local driver could drop it. If they have to wait, they are hourly anyway. Dropped a load at UPS Horsham PA, but I 95 from NOVA up to Jessup was a mess. Didn't have time to pickup anything else. In Allentown at the service plaza on I 476 headed to Bethlehem to pick up a load to Lowes Garysburg NC. Looking like another mediocre week. Uy vey.

Headed for a 2000 mile week until dispatch offers me a weekend trip to Ohio which I accept. Hot load from our yard to Fairfield OH due tomorrow morning then a backhaul from Proctor and Gamble in Vandalia back to Hickory, then a load headed toward the house. Another t shirt and attaboy for me!

Nice! Good hustle gntorres! I just finished my first full week as a cargo transporter myself.

Left Charlotte on Monday morning, took a preloaded trailer from Huntersville to Hagerstown, MD for Tuesday @ 0700. Boogied on over to Aberdeen afterward for a live load heading back to North Wilkesboro, drop & hooked a day early there. Then up to Dublin, VA (ironically where I was doing my 10 hr that night before) heading to Belleville, Michigan. First time in MI in over two years, didn't miss those lousy roads one bit lol... Back to back drop & hook on that load. Had to wait til the next day to pick up my next load down in Toledo, so I was given $50 for layover pay. Ran hard as heck yesterday and got that load destined for Statesville dropped in Claremont. Then brought a short load to Charlotte home with me & dropped it for a local guy to deliver Monday.

2203 miles + layover pay. For getting home for close to a full weekend, that's cool with me.

I was speaking yesterday with Cody, one of our recruiters, and a few changes are about to take place in our little world. First, is our expansion into our new facility in Rocky Mount where our new building is expected to be completed in January though we will have temporary trailers setup in the coming weeks if not days. They are finishing the paving of the parking lot as I write this. What it means for me is that I will not be able to take my truck home to Plymouth, even though I am 70 miles away. I just sold my 13 year old car weeks ago. Hadn't driven it in over a year and it was basically rotting in the driveway. Gotta admit I am excited about the expansion, its supposed to create 80 new jobs according to the news report of the local paper, but am sad as it will mean less contact with the mothership in Claremont. Time marches on.

The second notable change is that new drivers will be eligible for benefits in 30 days as opposed to 90 days. Geeze I started a year too early but I think that is huge in the recruitment of new drivers. Also, the rider policy is changing. No more full time ridership. Four weeks per year is the limit. You could have four different family members one week per or your spouse four times per. I imagine insurance costs drove that change. I believe spouse is free if I heard Cody correctly, though.

Just celebrated a year here and the times are a changin already. Got in last night about 8pm will take a reset and hit it again on Wed until Sat then home again for Sunday/Monday weekend. Looks the performance bonus is out the window this quarter. I would need to average 3000 miles over the next three weeks to make it 30,500. Ain't happening as I didn't get there this past week. I have only done it twice in the year I have been here. May was such a slow month. I didn't hit 2300 in any one week. Bring on the third quarter.

Yes. It will be a 15,000 square foot facility which will include maintenance facility, recruitment and office facility according to the report in the June 8th edition of the Rocky Mount Telegram. The building is to cost over1 million dollars. Maybe this explains the drop in miles as they try to ready the newbies for the expansion. Just a guess.

The Charlotte yard is a drop lot with a trailer home and a porta-john lol... Nice to hear about the expansion in Rocky though. Always happy to hear about job creation.
