Seems one of the company reefers got a leak on the condenser. Carrier Ultra.

Mechanic took it over to a local TK dealer to repair it and was informed this is common for the Carriers every 10K hours or so. TK has a replacement condenser that's supposed to stop it from happening again.

Just curious if anyone else has heard of this?

Yes had it on 2 carrier reefers last year both in the 9000 - 10000 hour range , son has had it on 1 of his but it was nearly brand new.

Only have had one condenser replaced in the last 15 years. A couple that are local only trailers have 40K hours on them. At 10K i'd be more concerned with the angle drive and blower bearings.

    MNdriver Thanks this.

10K hours seem to be the magic number for all brands of reefers to start breaking down more. As for the Carrier's angle drive...simple to rebuild or replace. I rebuilt mine last week and found out that the vent tubes are prone to leak water into them even if the tube is the updated style that goes all the way to the top of the unit. Also during a service the angle drive is not even required to be checked for proper fluid level...kind of a ticking time bomb in my mind.
