Hey Chris , another question I have ???

Where all do the Anderson drivers go. Is it mostly regional. Kelly said they go to Laredo , TX a lot but maybe that is teams.

I would like to have some long solo trips and travel all 48 but not sure they do that.

i had asked about staying out for 3 weeks at a time and she said that never happens.

Do you know any of the routes ???

Yes you take your test there. 3 different trucks but all 10 speed and all with sleepers.

No, Carter does not run all 48 states. Mostly the NAFTA Highway and upper east coast. You can stay out 3 weeks at a time but it is case by case. Basically, help your DM out and work hard and be nice and they bend over backwards for you.

Taking your truck home: I just got a real answer. The rule is no you can not. However, it is also case by case. Be nice to your DM and help them out and they will hook you up. Also if you live in Marion and have a dedicated to Detroit, it would make sense for you tontake the truck and trailer home if you have a place to park it. It seems to be a case by case basis but if you look out for your DM and team, they look out for you.

Thanks Chris for all the info and the quick reply. I actually live in Kokomo about 30 minutes west of Marion. Keeping the truck at Carter would not be that bad but would be nice to just have it close by for when you are home.
Sounds really good all that I have been hearing so far and nice that you take your test at Sage in trucks that you are familiar with .

are all of Carter's trucks automatic Volvo's or do they have any other makes or models or 10 speeds.

I just left Indiana Sunday and am back in Korea for now but was glad I got to speak with Kelly at Carter and the lady at Sage.

Sorry if I ask so many questions or duplicate questions , been in Indiana form3 week vacation and now back to work.
Seems like something pops in my head and I ask a question before I forget, lol

No worries about the questions. I asked plenty before I started too.

Mostly volvos and now freightliners. All autos. I was told there are a few 10 speeds that you can request if you want.

Did you get hired by Carter before you went to school ?

What about Physical and drug test , did you get all that before school ?

Just wondering if Carter had any kind of physical other than the DOT and if you have a break down of the hiring and school process.

Do you know if the trucks have anything in them ? GPS , refrigerator , Microwave , CD player, CB radio , Hot tub :)

Yes they hired me before school, but you are not technically an employee before the first day of orientation. Yes you have to get your physical and take the drug screen before school. Carter does another physical and drug screen the first day of orientation. The trucks do not have extras. They probably have cd players but any extras is on you.

Today was day 2 at orientation. We went over more safety, payroll, more qualcomm, tour of campus, etc, etc etc.

They bought Lee Chicken. It was a good day. Too tired to go into details of the day.

Today was day 3. It was nice. We started out in the classroom. Maintenance and service came up and spoke to us about everything. BTW, they will install up to a 1500 watt inverter, but you must buy it. After that the experienced drivers got their trucks, loads and were gone.

The drive trainer came up and we went over map/trip planning, shifting, etc. Then we got in his truck, did a pretrip, he showed us where everything is in the Volvo and we were off. We went to a truckstop in Chesterfield and ate lunch (Carter Express gave him cash to give us to cover lunch). We ate at Subway and then he took us to all 3 training ranges of Carter's. He showed us what all we will be doing - the parking, backing, etc. Then we headed back to the terminal, did a quick post and went home.

Cool day. I'm looking forward to driving, backing and hopefully soaking up more techniques that I don't know plus get more experience.
