I lost my dog at a rest area.I was on my way home for 3 days home time. But since it was late I decided to stay at the rest area.I took tiny for a walk she seen a rabbit and off she went.Next morning there she's was at my door barking. That day after I got home I spoiled her with a bunch of treats.

If it's like my cats, it may not even come out around people unless it has no other resources to fall back on like catching prey on its' own, or a water source. Sure hope you are are able to find it. Sounds like the area he's in would be a better bet if a worker finds him. Perhaps offer a reward if found.

For any pet lovers reading this thread, chipping your pet is #1 way to get them back but I would go a step further and get your phone number embroidered right on their collar as well. This way when (worst case) those abusive animal control people catch your pet, they know it has a loving owner and are more likely not to mistreat it.

I once saw a Dobie get hit by a car and her back legs were broken. I went to scoop her up to get her to safety but she bit me. She didn't mean to, she was just in shock and pain. She had a collar and tags but when animal control showed up, he only knew that she had bit someone so he put a tight noose around her neck and dragged her back to his truck all the while she was in severe shock and pain trying to yelp out but her noose was too tight. He was dragging her along the building and one of her broken legs got caught in a downspout thing and she got stuck. He didn't even look back, just heaved as hard as he could to pull her thinking she was fighting him. I said something and he looked back and was more gentle after that.

How sickening on the part of animal control, esp after all the programs on TV about abused animals. A very good idea about the ph# being embroideried on the collar.
