People such as yourself has the gift to remember what he reads.Me on the other hand had to read and reread the chapters for days to weeks till I knew it all in my sleep. Then I took the tests.

I found that the tests on this web site were almost exactly word for word to the ones I've seen at the DMV. When studying for my HazMat renewal I found the link below. It seems to have every question for every endorsement. I used to give similar tests in another industry. I strongly recommend you read each question and then ONLY READ THE CORRECT ANSWER. I believe at this site and the one below, if you answer none of the questions and then click to find your score you will get the correct answer for each question without having to read all the answers and distractors.

If the 'knowledge' is different from state to state, how does what you absorb help?

I am studying for my CDL test and I have looked through 3 different websites. They have different answers to the same questions.

Personally I would want the cdl information to be as close to my state to guarantee a pass. And there is nothing wrong with that.

And now I am a bit pissed.... and I will give an exact example of what I am talking about. People talk about common sense. Well here goes

I used 2 other testing services and they both asked this question but I get it wrong here.

    Here is the question,

You are driving a new truck with a manual transmission. What gear will you have to use to take a long downhill grade?

a-A lower gear than you would use to climb the hill
b-The same gear you would use to climb a hill
c-A higher gear than you would use to climb a hill
d-None. Newer trucks can coast down hills

I chose B, because that is the answer on 2 other testing sites. You can use the same gear going down that you would need to go up.

    This sites answer- A

That is nothing, wait until you take the exam and answer correctly, only to have the computer answer actually incorrect. I had that experience and told the clerk at the DMV, her response was, "Yeah, we know that, but there is nothing we can do about it.".

I found it incredibly helpful. Don't worry about studying the material. You can do that when you have a real truck and you will be able to reference it, and everything will come together. Just get your permit. I took the test over and over until I got 100% several times in a row.

Those sites are wrong. It's always one gear lower than what you climbed in.

Before I got my licence, I used to set aside an hour a day (7 days a week) to just do practice tests on this site. Haz Mat, general knowledge, all of it. I probably took them 200 plus times.
When I went to the DMV, I knew the answer by the first or second word on almost all the questions.

This is an incredible resource. If you're really serious about driving a truck, you'll use it.

In practice, if you say it's one gear lower than what you climbed in, I believe you. Your the one already driving. I can't help but wonder, on a test, if the 'answer' is different per the states test?

It seems to me, that all the states don't agree on everything.

What's the other one that I see different answers for depending on where I look...

It's the whole, "How many feet back do your safety markers have to be placed"

The dumbest one I saw was this, "HOw often should you place your parking break."
I answered, every time you get out of your truck.

The right answer was like "Everytime you get out of your truck, unless there are special circumstances."
I thought it was just common sense, you get out of the cab (just like when I park my car) I pull the parking break.

Don't mind me. I will keep studying. Just a harmless bit of complaining.
