Because last year I was with a local company for 10 years (off the road). Everyone wanted a refresher course, for what, I have no idea. I took the stupid 3 day course with Celadon and wound up teaching their instructors how to teach the students to back up. The students thanked me and a lot of rumors started flying... Anyway, after aceing all their stupid tests and doing the refresher, they wanted to cut my pay to pay for the so-called refresher course. I told them to stick it and jumped on a plane home. Best move I ever made!

Gordon has the best planners I have ever seen. IF your ETA/PTA is accurate, they will roll your wheels off. Plus, with 25 drop yards around the country, and all the time they give you to run a load, I can almost always drop and hook an empty to load out a new load without having to deliver.

Leases, man where can we start? In order to be profitable in any business one must know what are his/her fixed costs. There is really no way to sucessfully determine the cost of depreciation, the interest rate on your "loan" (typically referred to in leases as capitalized costs), and last, your maintenance as it is usually msndated at a set rate per month deducted from settlements. Who pays for the permits, insurance and incidental costs. Really, I can't see how there is a prayer of a chance to make money, drive and handle the governmental, regulatory requirements. Motor fuel tax calculations, withholdings and etc. Smarter than I me thinks.

I spent like 34 hrs. In orientation and that was about 24 hrs. Too long. I was about 23 yrs experience. Temptations like lone stars are a gimmick, you should know that.

I didn't think it was possible for somebody to build a truck uglier than the Freightliner Columbia. Then along came the International Lone Star a few years back, and it amazes me to this day that people actually pay money for something that is that hideous.

You do know that there's only about a whopping 12% of drivers that don't like the way the lone star looks right? Just saying, to each his own because beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

....and my opinion is that the thing looks like a Chrysler PT Cruiser... which I happen to find hideous... after what international tried to pull with the Maxxforce engine afew years back, if I never see another new one again, it will be too soon.

I was stuck in one of those smoke belchers for almost half a year, and I'm willing to bet it spent a full month out of those six in the shop. It was a pro star, but it was still a troublesome piece of junk that broke down all the time

I was under the impression , better yet I was told a couple years ago that INTL corporate decided that they were only going to put Max Force in the Lone Stars , as also was told by the driver, that his small fleet owner won't buy another Lone star as long as they stick to that decision. Was there a change by Corporate because no one in their right mind would buy one ? Just wondering
