Has anyone been through a dot inspection with e logs? Does dot check if e logs are certified or is this something they don't typically check? Do they give you a ticket if all e logs aren't certified or do they just make you certify them and let you go?

My trainer would only certify 2 or 3 of the oldest logs in a 7 day period in case he needed to make changes to the other logs. So that's what I've been doing.

I'm not sure, but certifying it is like signing a paper log. So what you have is unsigned logs.

Our company makes sure we approve logs at the end of every day. This tells me you're treading thin ice with multiple unapproved logs. But many carriers would probably use this as a means to deny any quarterly safety bonus. Check your employee handbook.

Some drivers dont certify daily in case they need to go back and get an extra 15 minutes to get the load delivered.

Do not listen to what people say here.....call your company and speak directly to the authority. Federal rules are passed to drivers from certified log and safety managers employed by your company.

Some drivers don't certify daily like they are required to in order that they can go back and falsify their entries from days ago like they used to do on paper logs. It's all about Safety though, Elogs make safer drivers see

Does dot check to see if they're certified if you go through inspection? Do they give you a ticket or do they just tell you to certify them?

I was on elog with Swift for years, I recall early on getting an urgent emergency red alert message about certifying the logs, preferably immediately after every duty change due to DOT spot checks and citing drivers for falsified logs that were not up to date and closed out (certified) much like starting a new paper log today without signing yesterday's log would be a form and manner violation.

Hey wait! You can't falsify elogs, they're the know all and be all to be a trucker correctly, legally, safely and fairly. Do whats right driver! certify at the end of the day like a good robot! DOT won't spot check, they won't even ask to see that stuff anymore, that would be more hassle for them than paper.

    Jdm5jdm5 Thanks this.
