Gotcha... I just don’t necessarily want people spying on me like you hear from all the companies that have abused this... not saying CFI will, but just slightly unnerved about it. I’m not going to be doing anything wrong just heard the horror stories is all...

After a while you’ll forget it’s even there. As far as the GPS is concerned, I trust my Rand McNally Truck GPS more than the one in the Peoplenet unit. Just my preference.

Do they make you follow one or the other? Or are you in charge of your stops and planning?

Also, if you don’t mind my asking, what specific GPS do you use? Just started doing research...

I use an old Rand McNally TND510. The newest model is a 540 or 740. Just a difference in screen sizes. Your other option is the Garmin Dezl.

Most important part is this———-the GPS is just another tool. ALWAYS have your trusty Rand McNally atlas handy.

They give us fuel stops and "recommended" routing. Some fuel stops are dangerous to enter and exit...i never use them. If you hit 70% of their fuel stops, you won't get a nastigram on your p net. Routing is somewhat tied to fuel stops. But there are places where I like to choose an alternate route. If your mpg are in check, they won't fuss.

Relax! If you are new, your finisher will have plenty of time to to explain it all. If you are experienced, orientation will clear it up for you.

Had me fooled, when you said you were going to Ohio, I figured it was orientation only. How long is the class there? I left the company for a short period, and when I came back they put me through an orientation in Ohio. It seems like forever between now and when you actually move up to your own truck, but , you will blink and all of a sudden you are on your own, seasoned, grouchy and telling stories at the liars table in some terminal.

Have fun with it. Keep us posted on the school. Not sure any of us are familiar with it.

Got snowed in at home on Monday. Street got plowed yesterday and with another 18" predicted for this weekend I got back on the road. First load offered was from Patterson to Denver. I'll wait a couple of days at the local J and get a load to Houston instead.
