Good advice. I go for the rumble strip and the brake pedal....that's always worked.

I know I've told myself that for years. Basic instincts kicked in man. On the upside though it was more so just a little portion of a lane shift rather than a swerve? Idk how to explain it. But it didn't really make my cab shake or anything I did it controlled enough. In the past I've been able to get my brake enough to either slow down controlled or actually stop before hitting a deer and I'm sure if there was any oncoming traffic or whatever that I would have stayed straight as well.

I figured that's what you meant. I do the same thing if it's safe to do so. I've avoided a deer on a two Lane highway in Texas that way. Now if I'm surrounded by cars and can't move or slow down safely..pink mist.

Yeah with the deer his body was facing to the right like he was already moving towards the shoulder so I figured he'd mostly jump that way too so I moved over a few feet to the left. The raccoon on the other hand gave me zero space to react and I moved as close to the shoulder as I could without going over the rumble hoping he'd stop. Poor guy. Both incidents on a 2 lane highway as well. Typically where you see the wildlife more...

    RIP Sly Cooper.

Had a bird fly into the too half of the tractor the other day near Abilene. Hit like a rock! Thought my wife was gonna lose her ####. She was so sad. I was worried about my brand new truck haha. Luckily no damage. Just a little more bird poop than usual lol

Had a student one time, we are about a mile from the delivery on a sorta foggy morning. He runs over a skunk that was already dead. We get to the customer, get out of the truck and I smell skunk... Didn't think too much of it...we make the delivery, drive 39 miles for fuel, get out of the truck...still smell skunk. Open the hood and there was skunk guts up in the wheel well.

We were in the habit of giving our students their cb handle...Pepi le pew was taken, so I named my guy Pole Cat. Figured it was fitting.

Here and there. I lurk quite a bit but don’t have a ton to post. Been working upwards of 60 hours a week lately, so not much time to post between work and family.
