If you don't have 200 miles in by 7:00 you ain't gonna amount to much today. I would stop to explain why, but I need to get busy!

So I recently read your still able to get a 1 year dot if your BP is below 160/100 but are on meds. I thought 140/90 was the limit? Or is that just for two year cards?

paul_4lp, RoadRooster and Cerberus XVI Thank this.

    • A DOT driver with a blood pressure under 140/90 may be medically certified for 2 years.
    • If the commercial driver has a top number of 140-159 and a bottom number of 90-99 may be DOT medically certified for 1 year.
    • If the top number is 160-179 and bottom number of the driver’s blood pressure is 100-109, can be put on blood pressure medication and given a 3-month temporary DOT medical certification. Then, he/she must be tested again and if the blood pressure is reduced to 140/90, he/she can be given a 1-year certification and must be re-tested and re-certified each year after that.
    • If the DOT driver has a blood pressure of 180/110 or more at testing, this is considered stage 3 hypertension and he / she cannot be certified. However, he/she can start treatment and in 6 months from that time, he/she can be re-tested. If the blood pressure is under 140/90 at the 6-month re-check, he/she can receive DOT medical certification for 6 months but must be re-certified every 6 months after that.

    Interesting read

That looks right, I read your post wrong...I think you and I need to go to the Roadhouse for line dance lessons. Your BP will come down and I will have a coronary...yippee...early retirement!

Another rough day at the office....Winter in Mozambique. Sunny, 85F. Nice breeze. Almost like Texas in December.
