CFI Driver's What's Your 20? (2017 edition)

That past employer situation is pretty specific... I would just call back the recruiter and ask them... Maybe ask for orientation at Joplin? I had mine there and they usually have plenty of trucks sitting around... The Wilmer yard is just a big dust bowl

 

Update no 4th truck going to fix my truck get a new headlight for now hopefully then next month for thanksgiving week be down to get a new hood but will see tomorrow morning as I talk to the shop. Rookie yr so far almost 80k miles and 36k income still pretty good and it’s not the end of the yr yet lol we hope next yr will be a better yr

 

Wife and I did orientation in Wilmer. It's 4 days just like the one in Joplin, but it's much more relaxed. Trust me on this, it's better to do it in Wilmer. In Joplin, you will sit through higher-ups and other office personnel speaking from the time you arrive to the time you leave. 8-5. But at Wilmer, it's a few refresher videos, company protocol. Alot of sitting, but honestly just shoot the #### with the other drivers and you'll be good to go. Tuesday is yard day, you'll go out and back a trailer into a spot (easy and lots of room) the other days are just a few videos and then going home, usually a bit early.

Drug testing they do on Monday morning in the the building, they call some agency from off site and they'll pull you out of class one at a time to pee in the cup.

Had to lay off the tiki bar till almost sundown. Renewed my CDL and hazmat. Yikes...had to take the test again!

I got down in the count early but passed!

When we renew in Florida is it just the hazmat? Not the other tests right?

 

Correct, hazmat test only. Everything else is paperwork, and fingerprints

 

I love it when I have to do a dropbhook at a customer in the middle of a small snow storm where there's already roughly 3 inches of snow... Get the empty. Leave customer. Sweep out roughly 2 to 4 inches of snow out of the trailer that went maybe a fourth of the way into the trailer because customer keeps doors open.. only to go on the board and be told to go back to the exact same. Customer to do another dropbhook for a loaded trailer
.... I knew my preplan was in the same city but dang can you atleast tell me if it's the same customer too!?

 

Not to worry...someone will be in here in a minute or two to thank you for cleaning out that trailer for them.

 

Picking up in Deerfield beach florida in the morning, then have all weekend to go 1200 miles. Think I'll stop in Stuart, visit some friends, knock a hundred miles off the trip...can't rush these things. Gonna find some seafood to make @subseaguru jealous...

 

@Ultratowel where are you with the snow? It's in the 80's tonight in Florida...trying to figure out where I am going to put the big boy britches on again.
