Ahhhh...
Saw this old thread. Thought I’d add my 2 cents;
I worked there awhile back. Seriously, I hadn’t been paid such a low salary since the early 80’s. Back then, 10 bucks an hour wasn’t a fortune, but it wasn’t exactly horrible either. At CFI, you’re looking at a job that pays just a tad above minimum wage. With no overtime. To live and to work like an animal up to seven days a week.
In other developed ( I said ‘developed’, guys) these wages and conditions would be, and are, illegal.
I suppose such paltry wages are good pay in third world countries like India, Viet Nam or Mexico. -
I'm surprised nobody has posted about them.
Anyway they advertise a lot here in Chicago but there is no way I would work for Forward Air or any of their subsidiaries. -
Ok Teamwolf. In my experience in working for CFI, I've never encountered a problem with a specific load assignment. The Dispatchers are not there to make you look bad. Only YOU yourself can make you look bad. That's just fact in any trucking company. Let's take a look at your example that you mentioned.
You're dispatched to pick up a load at 13:00 hrs. You stated you're 200 miles from the shipper. Well even at a governed 65 mph you should have a travel time of 3.5 hours. You do understand that the times are set up by the planners, not dispatch. So if you're sitting 200 miles away at a location, and the time is 12:30, what were you doing?
Were you at a stop waiting for a load and didn't respond immediately?
Were you at a receiver delayed?
Or did you get the load assignment at 12:30 and after accepting the load got mad because of whatever reason?
It literally would make no sense to be assigned a load at 12:30 with an appointment time of 13:00 and expect you to make it on time if you're not within proximity. We ALL know the appointment time would be changed by the Dispatcher. So my friend your complaint is lacking details. I believe you're a mediocre driver who isn't responsible enough.
As for the fuel route, yes you should follow it as close as possible. These routes are planned to execute the most cost efficient route when it comes to fuel management. It doesn't mean you have to fuel at the one listed on your Fuel and Route plan. If you are in need of fuel, stop at the approved designated fuel stops and add enough fuel to get you the the specific fuel stop listed. Make sense?
I work for CFI and I've NEVER had an issue with changing the appointment time if it needed to be adjusted. Things happen at the shipper or receivers location. My advise, become a better driver. If they can preplan your next load ask for it. If there is a load available to be preplanned then your be notified. But many would probably agree with me, this sounds fishy and more of a management problem on your end.
In the end, service failures are 90% through the fault of your own. Unless you are in need of micromanaging, it is up to you to MANAGE YOURSELF.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 18, 2019
