Heck, the doc does not even see you until all the other tests are done. And those are administered by a nurse.

This had me confused at first too, then after it was explained I understood...To be certified to do a DOT physical, one has to complete all the gov't testing required and pass, many MD's I'm told don't want to be bothered with it, as it is quite extensive (time consuming) to get certified....Hence, Chiropractors, PA's, Nurse Practitioners, and probably others do....

Last 2 times I've had my chiropractor issue my DOT card - I agree it doesn't take rocket science to complete a form ( of which 80% is a yes/no self filled form).

I see him about 8-10 times a year to release tight muscles and tendons, and realign my spine. I see my regular doctor . . . almost never.

He spent 7 years in school, and works harder than any doctor I've seen - mobile DOT, late nights, weekends. I've referred several people his way.

About 10 years ago I was in Wisconsin on Thanksgiving and my neck locked up on a nerve. I could barely move. Had I been able to access an emergency room, I would have. I went through the yellow pages, found a chiropractor , left a message which he returned. Took a taxi to him, he met me at his office, and left able to move. On Thanksgiving.

What would a doctor have done? X-rays, muscle relaxers, pain pills and a $800 bill? I'm sticking with my quack bone doctor, regardless of how he is sneered at by the rest of the medical 'profession'.

My first physical was done by one. I hate these once a year deals.

They have been doing the physicals as long as I have been trucking and that's 35 years . So it is nothing new .

Actually Chiropractors do have as much education as a medical doctor. It is a different education than you get with medical doctors. That is why there are two professions. Chiropractors are Primary Care Providers. So Yes you can go. Here is a copy of the comparison of Chiropractic vs Medical Education.
You will notice that Chiropractic education is longer Ie. more hours than Medical education. https://biology.uni.edu/sites/default/files/chiropractic_education_vs_medical_education.pdf

it don't matter, the purpose of the DOT physical is useless because these are doctors who see you for 15 to 30 minutes and they are to make a determination you are fit to drive.

    Pretty much a joke.

I get my test by nurse practitioner. Maybe 4 minutes to check chassis and blood pressure and heart rate and peepers, no blood or urine test.

The closest dot practitioner near me happens to be a chiropractor.
    No biggie.
    Nice small town.
    No lines.
