Clicking at the fire wall no cranck 98 Peterbilt 379 Cummins N14

    Truck will not crank over.
    Starter is good because we jumped it.
    Solenoid on firewall clicks
    12 Volts at Neg/Pos on the starter (or it wouldnt have jump started)
    Replaced the solenoid ( same thing)
    Checked wire to starter solenoid from firewall with ohm meter its good.
    Checked volts at starter solenoid with start button pressed no volts.
    Fire wall solenoid has hot wire with 12 volts and jumps to other side when start button pressed.
    Jumped start button in the truck same clicking.
    I tried 3 different solenoids at firewall and all make the clicking sound.

    Kind of lost does anyone have a diagram of the starter circuit? Any advice?

    The starter should spin if you touch the terminals on the firewall solenoid with a screwdriver. Have you tried that?

    Are you sure the wiring is hooked up correctly at the firewall solenoid?

    Are you certain that the firewall solenoid is grounded? Must be grounded.

    Were these all new firewall solenoids?

    Did this happen out of the blue, or while replacing parts?

    95 Pete 379 with 12.7 -

    Exact same problem 2 weeks ago - EXACTLY.

    Rocked it in gear on a slope the first time, and it fired up. Got inside shipper, shut off - no start, not able to rock.

    Left it 2 minutes - fired up.

    Went home, replaced 42 MT starter with 39 MT.

    Starts every time. Have spare solenoid and starter button with me just in case.
