It’s been nearly a year since the last thread. Let’s get new data and all the latest happenings..
Things are ok here. We’ve lost probably 40% of our revenue compared to 2022 which was a record year by far. However, 2022 was 100% increase over 2021. So, still doing fine but conditions suck for sure. Slowly those gravy train runs that you’ve done for years get scarce or go away. It’s still not easy by any means to hire good safe drivers who are willing to work hard. So, the core of your group that kicks ###, better be well taken care of.
Maybe by summer of 24 the ship will have returned from her long sail?
Closing up shop or thinking about it? The latest…

Current expansion is going well, nearly at full capacity. Adding delivery truck (class 6) in January. Paying down debt. Starting to draw up plans for the next expansion -- just making a good faith leap we'll be able to find people to fill the seats on the bus, lol. Like you, people is what makes or breaks us.

Hey there - you've been absent. Hope all is well.
I picked the closest option in your poll. I was looking for a "Things have been cruddy, but we're still chugging along, and not buying any new toys"
So I went for "honestly no idea"
Lining up for the 3rd lowest year revenue wise in 9 years running, and echo the gravy trains that dry up or go away.
Just a one truck chuck - but that's me so far this year.W923, PPLC, Geronimo17 and 16 others Thank this. -
Nothing to do with money or the carrier im leased to and couldn't be happier! I'll be 60 next month and just tired of the BS and the don't give a flip attitude of today's driver .
As of today I listed my truck for sale and I'm done .runningman0661, tscottme, PPLC and 25 others Thank this. -
REALLY? I can't do this by myself. You gotta help out.
Well, you're 12 years my senior, so I can't blame you at all.
What's next in the journey?tscottme, PPLC, TheLoadOut and 8 others Thank this. -
Trucks nearly paid off, 80% of my debt personal and business is gone and paid save my few student loans which are under 20k now. Im caught up on taxes. Im about to drop a new transmission into my rig as the first step of 3 to turn my plastic oval into an actual steriotypical load ### coal burning pete. Trucks in good solid mechanical shape. I have a positive maintaince account and while the wolves are howling in the woods they aint at my door anymore.
Loads are slowing down yes. But they are returning to the pre insanity of the last few years and are about 60% above my worst case budget from when i started. And the rates are still well above my CPM. So full steam for now. Subject to change of course, but full steam. -
Not wide open at the moment, but not idling either. New truck should be ready end of next week so I’ll be down a few days getting all that squared away.
My main squeeze is at a crawl right now and probably will be until after Christmas. But there’s always cows to taxi, so I may do that for a bit of the fall run. As far as flatbed freight in my area, some weeks it’s chickens and other weeks it’s feathers. So about normal.
I imagine it’ll be slow up until 2025. I just can’t see anything ramping up in an election year, but never say never… -
I got a good job back in July with good benefits. I had some really good years as an o/o but I wish I had gotten this same job 10+ years ago instead buying a truck.

Soltaker, TheLoadOut, ducnut and 3 others Thank this.

PPLC, TheLoadOut, austinmike and 9 others Thank this.
