X2 on swift. They said they will take Me and I didn't go to driven school, I do have My CDL Class a.
-
I saw alot of recruits at the academy with CDL A's already , but they just didn't have the road experience ,so they went to the Academy for 2 weeks, then to orientation,, then I guess on the road for 4-6 wks with a mentor, then I assume to their own trucks.
Swift really hasn't been too bad for me so far. -
If these companies don't have a driving school in the state I reside in, how am I able to obtain my CDL A in another state?
-
You would travel to their school for training. But your license would be from your home state where you live. They would have to send you home I guess to take the CDL test from your home state and once you have your license they'll put you to work. I can't of any other way it would work.
-
They get you a license in the state of the school with instructions to change it to home state asap.CDL testing is standardized so switching from state to state is just a matter of $$$$
Practice got CR England in some hot water a few years back when they had something like 1500 people listing their business address in West Valley as home address -
Actually with Swift,,I took my training at the academy in Millington , TN,(I'm from NC),then they bus'd me to Richmond , VA for a cpl days, then we drove a Swift truck to the DMV testing site in Lumberton, NC , where I took my test.
With Swift, you don't change your license to their state then have to change them back to yours, they school you ,then they get your test and license in your state with their trucks,,wasn't so bad if ya ask me. -
Better off. I always thought that taking the test out of state and transferring was tedious at best, and with the new haz-mat regs expensiveMight be the reason for the change. That or England's fine off that lawsuit.

Yeah. Thanks guys. I already have my B with air brakes and tanker, I got these through the fire service, and am looking to upgrade to an A to go do something with my life. I was looking at the dmv website in my state, and they make u wait 6 months after issuance of a license from another state before transferring to here, so I was wondering how that all worked.
