Companies to avoid at all cost

You never answered 88Alpha's question.You worked for every one of those companies? Or was this talk you heard at the buffet at the Petro, where others were speaking of these "crooks"....

 

I've found out I've been basing many of my opinions on heresy. In fact im being shunned for being a heretic.

 

Heretic, or hysteric? I'm thinking too many years around Ardis soured your outlook on life.....

 

I'd add Caregan Transport to that list, family. Caregan was the worst trucking company I'd ever worked for and I have several reasons to support my opinion:
1) The pays is weekly but you won't receive your first week's cheque until the third week.
2) The company had me on standby all day, but tried to pop ish with me for not hounding them about a load because they didn't want to pay me for the time I'd waited for them to obtain a load for me. For Example, I clocked in @ 7:30a and pick up/dropped two short haul loads in the city. At 10:30a, the dispatch told me to sit tight while they found another load for me. Around 3:00p, they realized that I was still waiting and someone from the logging dept went to edit my logs so that they didn't have to pay me for the ON-DUTY time, but i wasn't having that.
3) The equipment is horrible.
4) I had tons of issues with the sliding payscale.
5) They have an office full of jerks tbh
6) Had to put in a claim with the Dept of Labor in order to get my final cheque


I dealt with all that stuff over six years ago, but I could never forget how they attempted to f me over. Say no to Caregan Transport of Richmond , IN

 

Ahhh my friend you read me like a book. Years of being around Ardis HAS put me in a deep funk that I can not seem to shake. No amount of self medicating with Red Bull and Pilot roller dogs has seemed to help. Perhaps a round of golf with my trusted financial advisors would lift my spirits. Taking a little money off the England's and Knight's would certainly cheer me up.

 

If you had wages not paid to you there is likely at least one avenue you could have endeavored to recover those wages. Some states do have a workforce commission where you file a wage claim or you could have sued the "crooks" yourself even, if you know how to do that.

 

Great Plains Transport. Was a good company until the owner’s idiot d-bag kid mike took it over and ran it straight into the ground, just like he did with CMT. Junk equipment that couldn’t pass an inspection even if the DOT cop is blind, maintenance dept. that could screw up a bicycle, safety people that are just mental midgets, and freight is now nothing but short haul east coast regional broker crap off load boards.

 

Glad I don’t have to worry about this anymore, I’m at my last stop as far as a company goes and if for some crazy reason, it didn’t work out where I am now, then I’m out of trucking for good. All into the retirement finish line where I’m at now. For those of you still searching I feel for you. Especially with the long term, slow down, Companies are beginning to treat their drivers poorly again. And some of them already bad enough. When the industry turns around, and it will eventually turn around, companies that have been treating their drivers extremely poorly are going to regret it.
