Lately on my 10 hour sleeper berth break, I've been getting calls from my company. It's been happening for the last 3 days and I'm starting to get super annoyed. Yesterday night, 5 hours into my good sleep my company calls me. I didn't answer and kept sleeping. 10 minutes later again they called me so I picked up, once I was done talking to them I couldn't go back to sleep. Today they called me again and left 3 voicemails regarding a certain load, and told me I have to pick up their phone calls.

How the hell am I ever supposed to get sleep with these dispatchers calling me all the time? Should I just turn my phone off when I hit SB? Or am I supposed to pickup every time?

Just tell them to hold on while you switch to on-duty as it's buisness related. Then tell them the new ETA now that you had to restart the rest break.

It depends on what they are calling about. If something isn't quite rite or went wierd with the load/time. It's good to be Captian Obvious and let them know that you know it's going to be tight or whatever.

If you have their personal cell phone number then start calling them at all hours of the night and see how they like it. If you have Qualcomm or something similar send a message when doing your 10 hour break that being disturbed during your resting time could become a safety issue to yourself and the general public. Document all you can just to be safe. Good lukk.

I have "do not disturb" mode on my phone, and you can set it up so only certain contacts can get thru with it turned on (like a spouse or family members). I broke a company of doing that when I unloaded the most vulgar insulting tirade I could come up with, followed by "if you wake me up again I will put my boot so far up your ###, you'll be picking it's laces out of your buck teeth"...then hung up...when my terminal manager spoke to me about it in the morning, she said they didn't appreciate the unprofessional language I used, I told her that I didn't appreciate being woken up night after night, and the next time it happened, I would log it as on duty time then restart my break after I cuss them out again...they never called me on my break again.

I sleep nights so i don't tend to have to deal with that. If for some reason I'm going to be sleeping during hours that my dispatcher might call me (He's not an arse about it like some of your dispatchers seem to be, but he's also used to driver running during the day, so if he needs an ETA or something he might call without realizing I'm asleep) then I'll put the phone on do not disturb mode. You can set certain contacts to be able to get through, so I set it to where my wife can call me if there's an emergency, but all other calls and all texts will not give me a notification until I shut that mode off.

If the company were to tell me that I need to answer the phone during my off duty hours I'd tell em that no I don't. I need to sleep.

Happens on occasion with me. They seem to fine with a call back whenever I come too.

A while ago I dealt with safety and when they called me their first question was are you driving. Then they asked if my codriver was because they needed to speak to him too. I said he was. So they said alright have him call us
Wait until we park next to you with our reefer. It growls like a lion. Then once you get to sleep we will knock on your door and ask if there is any good places to eat nearby.

I've never had to deal with it to that magnitude, but I have been woken up by the boss/owner before while sleeping. If it's not absolutely EMERGENCY related, I let it be known right then and there that this will be the last time I get woken up. #### happens, but when it becomes routine like it apparently is for you over the last 3 days then someone needs a reality check, i.e the dispatcher or whoever is calling you.

Some folks just flat don't have any respect or common sense. That might sound disckish but my god, sometimes it's hard enough to get sleep and stay asleep as it is, without some moron calling you non stop. As someone else stated, get their personal number and give them a few rings, back to back while they're at home, asleep. I bet they won't appreciate it.
