My paper logs do not have a recap on them, and when I used logs that did, I never filled them out. I always figured that the dot could do all that if they wanted to, and they did at times. lol
I get plenty of 34 resets, so no need for a recap at all the way I run.

Pretty much nobody here does ... It's not complicated. You always have 70 hrs available over the next 8 days.

No, work, not driving, you can be on duty 14 hours and may only drive an hour or two, up to 11.

    Gamgee Thanks this.

You can't drive if you have been on duty 70 hours or more in the last 8 days. 70 hours divided by 8 equals 8.75. So if you don't use more than 8.75 hours each day you will never accumulate more than 70 hours in the last 8 days. ( if the company doesn't operate 7 days a week then the maximum is 60 hours in 7 days)

It depends on the company but if the loads allow it it shouldn't be too hard to put in enough hours so that a reset is required. Some drivers prefer to not work more than 8.75 hours a day though and if you have the hours and the company needs the load moved there's no reason for them to not put you to work.

Some local or LTL companies pay overtime.

Some OTR companies pay a salary (not very many of them).

Some companies pay by the load.

But most OTR companies pay mileage or percentage.

By the stories I hear from those doing this longer than I've been alive . Those who were speed freaks couldn't take that much time off without chewing off their nails.

    Sit and stay.

    34 hours OFF Duty.

Better and faster than 2 or 3 day waiting on 8th day recap.

    Gamgee Thanks this.
