Only once in my driving career. Had a flat and it took road service 3 hours to come out.

This literally happened to me for the first time with my new company and I was going to post something, but since we are on the subject. I told my dispatcher that I couldn't get to the last stop. They are too far out and I would run past my 14 on my return. He told me to go there any way and pull my 2 hour reserve chute and glide back in. I kinda said ok cause I was on OT anyway, but I was under the impression that the rule was intended to give local drivers some backup paddle in case you broke down or got stuck somewhere.
I do not think that the provision is intended as a lifeline after you deliberately run yourself out of hours.Texas_hwy_287 and Digman943 Thank this. -

1. Is unforseen delays available to everyone, but it has to be truely not apparent. Rush hour, weather, bad shipper, etc does not count
2. Is the short haul "big day" I already posted the criteria.Last edited: Jul 27, 2020

I used to do it every Friday for my first few months in foodservice. Would start off my day on duty, sitting in my truck for an hour or two waiting for my trailer to show up, on a route that was planned as 13.5 hours long to begin with.
