Open your local Telephone Directory. "Motor Carrier" and also "Fuel" as well as "Bulk"
There is usually a tank farm in your state somewhere that all trucks flock to feed and drink off of. We have ours in North Little Rock next to I-40 off US 70 with 5 pipelines feeding through. There isnt anything you cannot purcahse if you have enough trucks and rail cars to haul it. OR even a pipeline to a oil tanker ship.
The askance for a particularl payrate discarding all else being too cheap or being too low is a bit of a fantasy. You take what they pay you. Don't like it? Get out of that too expensive yankee state and live somewhere cheap like Mississippi or Arkansas among other places. If you had a sleeper truck, you won't even bother with having a home at all. Just stack your G's Give FBI something to look at when you deposit 18700 every 5 weeks at .75 paid to the truck.Mooseontheloose and tscottme Thank this. -

Florida is exactly a black hole for trucking, it's ALMOST that for OTR. Everybody shipd freight to FL, but FL makes very little. Compared to 95% of the other "57 states" it ships little. Look on a US map and notice where 2 or more interstate highways cross. That is a good place for trucking.
Every state has local work. You named the companies that are in most states. You need to search city name & trucking companies. There is no list. Even the American Trucking Association's list is missing some companies. With a criminal or traffic ticket littered background you can usually haul cement/ready-mix, trash, food service, construction materials. The results you get depend on how much research you do to narrow down your choices. It's hard to make good money, be home alot, and have a sketchy record. IMO -
Florida, Texas, Nevada are all good for trucking and no personal income taxes in those states.
How much experience do you have and do you have endorsements? OK, I see, you've been driving 2 years.
Best I can say is, move to a warmer climate!
Where are you in PA?Last edited: Feb 15, 2019
