Just wanted to say that I am noticing and enjoying a lot more drivers waving to me on the LTL side as opposed to OTR. At Conway, we always try to wave to all our fellow drivers, be they Freight or T/L, but I really notice all the guys I see from Fed/EX, A Duie, UPS, OD wave to me on a regular basis, and it's not the one finger Hawaian wave either, lol. I even get the occassional bs chat at consignees or the local fuel stop. It's funny sometimes as we chase each other from stop to stop and manage to get in each other's way without there being a big stink about it.

I have noticed this as well, other ltl drivers wave more often than not when approaching from the other direction

At Reddaway, our trucks have the illuminated company logo inside the wind-dam. We can see each other at night and we will hit our interrupter switches to flicker our lights as we pass each other. During the daytime, all the LTL guys wave at each other as well, regardless who they work for.

Even the P&D guys know each other. I had to fill in one time and another company P&D driver saw me at a customer location and asked who I was and were the regular driver was. Then he was green with envy when I he saw my twin screw (it was winter time). I had to explain to him that I was a linedriver, and my truck goes with me everywhere.

On the highway there's always another YRC guy who waves to you or we flicker the marker lights at night. When I used to do p/d we all always waved to each other and got friendly on our routes. Few times we'd end up at the same place for lunch.

i remember I was running to Harrisburg and I had an ABF, FXF, and CWF all getting on. Made the long boring drive on i84 go by fast as we all talked on the cb, we were all heading towards the same way, although the fedex guy left the group to go elsewhere and the CWF guy was past our exit. The ABF guy and I stopped for coffee before heading to the terminals. Too bad we was a Harrisburg guy, would've been cool to go back again lol.

Out here, some will wave, some wont...UPS parcel drivers hardly if ever wave or say thanks if you let them over, so I dont care for them much. And their trucks are faster, so they pass you on hills, then do 55...so you are leapfrogging with them all night.

Yea I agree with you Cenutry, those parcel guys never wave, kinda think they are gods gift to trucking. The freight guys always wave though. FXF freight guys can be hit or miss... but then again NJ and NY is just RUDE LOL

Forgot to mention, one guy we work with has this thing on his phone where he can get 8 of us on the phone as a chat group. That makes the night go by quick too when I join in. Normally im chattin with the gf, my uncle who must be the ONLY OTR driver who likes driving nights, or which ever other friend of mine is awake crazy hours lol

I have noticed through the years that the happier a driver is, the more he waves. A mad driver will not acknowledge another driver most of the time. I have a theory the drivers who drive for a good company are happier, have a better attitude, and wave more. That would explain some types of drivers wave, some don't.
Just what it seems to me.

There is no Comraderie in OTR. There might have been once apon atime like back when i started driving in 1977. But now 3/4,s of the OTR drivers today have no buisness on the road Period. I peddle in a city that has a population of maybe 65,000? Just about every city peddle driver knows each other

What caused the camaraderie to disappear in over the road, (OTR), trucking??

There's a light camaraderie among P&D guys since we're all out there doing the same job. Plus the guys that peddle the same part of town every day usually get to know each other or at least chat on customer docks.
