The pay with either carrier (starting out) is weak....so that part is a mute point.

If/when....you move on to your 2nd carrier....with experience in several different types of freight -- vs your competition...who are mostly "one-trick ponies"....who do you think would most likely get the nod...especially if the competition/market is still tight?

    :dontknow:

I definitely see your point. I would like to learn more about the industry. However, things are the way they are. Good or bad. I feel like specialized in something is the way to go long term. I’m not really hurting for cash today, but don’t get me wrong I’ll be working to make money. My buddy is hauling chemicals team and he’s in the top 2-5% of truck drivers in the country as far as pay. Hasn’t seen a check under $3,500 yet. All he does is drive a van and sleep in a van.

I guess so, he’s got hazmat loads and I’m pretty certain he said he’s hauling a van. I think something with cryogenics. I can ask him later.

    Hmmmmm....let's do a qwik review:

    First flatbed....then specialized.....then cryogenics....with dry van.....??? o_O

Might be time to double-check your notes (from other sources)...

    Anyway, best of luck....be safe!

Melton sent me a pretty long rejection letter compared to other companies.

They said while there is no single factor in their decisions, they highly value experience and encouraged me to reapply after I got more experience.

May is still in play, said I was ok for Sep 9 class. Western Express is but minimal communications, said I was good for their September group a few days ago but radio silence since then.
