    I try :)

Well we just dropped our last load in Laredo at the terminal and he is fueling right now and about to head out with a load destined for somewhere in Indiana. I'm too tired to remember where lol.

I haven't slept well the past few nights so going to sleep early tonight.

    Drive safe!

Thanks for the response...Wow! 13 Speed, eh...no wonder CWTL didn't like my school. Recruiter had to go through Safety Department to approve the CDL school I went to. It took two weeks to get the green light. I was trained on a 9 Speed in an old CabOver with 40" trailer. Now I'm waiting for final dispatch to Joplin for Orientation....I'm a little worried.

Question? Is Boot Camp designed to train a driver further or check-out what ya have and disqualify? Is it tough or is it a training program?

    Thanks !

Like I stated above, I didn't go to boot camp because I went to Crowder for school so I can only pass on what I've heard.

I heard that it is intended to be just to weed out the people that wouldn't make it at Con-way but a lot of students talk about learning so much at boot camp and how they learned more there than in the whole time they were in school and things like that. I think it's really a little of both.

As someone who was "weeded" out, it's a little of both. If u can drive a 9 speed u can drive a 13. We were shown how to split the top gears but were not required to do so. We drove it like a nine. The main things u will need to watch are your turns and your backing since u now have a sleeper and 53 ft trailer. The only back u are required to do is the 45 and it will be demonstrated beforehand. Then u pass their pre trip which is easier than the one for the Cdl test. Finally u have the obstacle course. I learned a lot even though I didn't make it through but they told me I can come back with experience. Good time all around except the end result.

That is a response from a real man, he lost out on it but doesn't have anything bad to say about it, how are you doing? Where are you at? How iw it going there? How long did they sy you needed for the experience thing? Before you could come back here? I talk to a couple guys that say I am headed into the tough part right now 2 months in they said tthey try to starve a driver out see if they will stick it out, I wish I could just tell them YES and they not do this but I'll survive. I'm in Limon Co. Going to Springville Ut. Then towards the house kinda I need to be home Friday.

May I suggest? I am probably preaching to the choir but when you see another Conway truck that unless it is a dangerous move wave hi to that fellow driver, I passed 6-8 trucks going North up I-15 today and less then half waved.

    Hey guys!

Sorry I disappeared for a bit. We took a spur of the moment 1 day hometime so I could get my Haz-Mat endorsement. Between studying for that, getting it done, and getting back out here and into the freight lanes I haven't had much free time and the little bit I have had have been spent doing other things.

Hope you are all doing good.

We are currently at a con-way freight yard in el paso, tx waiting for our load to be ready. Once it is we are heading to the yard just outside springfield.

Greetings fellow drivers. I'm gonna have to find the time and energy to post more often. This "old dawg" HAS been getting the miles. Had a 3165 week followed by a 3441 week. Will have 1700 for this week when I deliver early in the morning to OKC. But that still leaves plenty of time for another dispatch and more miles. Did my personal best today at 678 miles from the J in Winslow, Az over to the J in Sayre, Ok. Drove from Baldwin Park(not far from downtown LA) over to Winslow yesterday and had a woeful 6.2 mpg thanks to dropping down to 7th gear several times climbing those mountains out there with this 40k in the box. Was able to run at 63 most of today and got it back up to an overall 6.8mpg. I think ole Sally would average 7.5 easy if I could keep her out of the mountains. Chat at ya'll again soon. GOAL.
