Not too many but a few...I worked at GSF for over 30 years and we had maybe 3 that came and went. Most ladies find it too difficult physically. Food service is not for every body...neither is OTR...you have to want it , to like it. I remember a guidance counselor that I had in high school...she said if you could find a job that you're good at , you love doing , and are able to make a living at it. Then you'll never work a day in your life....some of the best advice I've ever heard.

Awesome thanks for the info, just wondered about since I haven't seen any females doing the food service, this might be an option for me down the road, the physical part doesn't bother me as I always try to stay fit. Thanks again, sorry for hijacking the thread lol

    Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

Like the guy DOUBLE R said it jus a select few that post bs about a company most never have work for these companies or have done foodservice...And most companies in foodservice hire a lot because of new business, its not always because guys quit. Me personally I would unload two trailer not to sleep and shower at a d*m truckstop been there done that not for me, Most foodservice companies keep a steady stream of drivers because u will have a few that want make it. Walmart suppose to be the best job on the road, but go on some of their thread and see how much negative sh** on their and get back to us.

Refer to my posts on Odfl, personally think they're great, .55 solo, .64 team, large terminal in Harrisburg. Any questions just ask.

I am a l/h driver for old dominion and flat out it is the best company I have ever worked for I am not trying to sugar coat things but the fact is over the years I have worked for several companys and most of them were a joke at least a old dominon you get paid what your worth and managment dosent interfere with you doing your job overall I really plan to stay there till retirement. I have also worked for conway about 15years ago they also paid well but they had more of the numbers mentality where they were fixed on your numbers and not so much you as a driver and it was like the sheep feeling and also the thing about conway is that you tend to do a lot more dock work than most companys well at least that was the way it was at the time I worked there they had no dedicated dock guys and it was up to the driver.

Oh I forgot to ad this in regards to foodservice if you want to stay fit its the way to go but keep in mind when your out delivering with any of these companys you are the customers ###### thats why I went to l/h after 12 years as a p&d driver couldnt put up with customers anymore and in food service it is more so in this industry did not work for sysco but a competitor and you were told do this do that by customers and god forbid anything to be damaged then look out. So keep in mind if your good with people any of these companys will work doing delivery or p&d of your not so much a people person you may wanna look more towards line haul.. But any of these company can be very rewarding for a good driver just find your niche

Amen to that! I found my niche. I start with Sygma next week and I am not afraid of hard work. What I like best is the routes and being home more often with my family. I also like to know what I am going to be earning and where I am going to be from week to week. OTR is so unpredictable, for me anyway.
