Why does a professional driver need help? If he can't change back into the right lane without help, he needs to quit driving.

It's simple. It gets dark outside your pupils open up and are sensitive to light. When someone flashes their high beams what is the driver doing? He's looking in his mirror right at you. Poof! Brain shock and spots!
That's why a deer freezes!
Has nobody ever had their picture taken with their eyes closed? Flashes tend to do that as a person tries to protect their eyes. Also lights will fatigue you quicker the more you look at.
I'd rather have someone do nothing than high beam me. Dim your lights or use your CB. Who knows you might strike up a conversation.
I over extend anyway so it really ain't a big deal. Some flash when you clear. Some flash when there is a safe distance. On the other hand I have waited for a safe distance and the passing driver will get impatient and almost take your hood off. It's really not a good practice to put a semi 20 feet in front of you.pattyj, Tonythetruckerdude, Pedigreed Bulldog and 6 others Thank this. -
Why should the passee back out of it for the passer who made the poor choice to pass at 1 mile per hour faster? I say, instead of Swift trying to pass a 62 mph truck when he can only go 63, the Swift should back down to 58 for a couple miles and create some distance then he can go back up to 63 for a while, Schneider was minding his own business making his money, why should he have to accommodate a rude passer who cannot pass with extreme prejudice and authority (blowing doors off).
It's not safe for 2 megacarrier governed rookie truckers to be barrelling down the interstate side by side for 15 miles. Nothing worse than finally throwing in the towel to let the passer go on by for safety then witness him get off the exit not 5 fricken miles down the road.terrylamar Thanks this. -
When this happens to me, I won't hesitate to call that drivers company.Wildhorse192001 Thanks this.

Just because it's a Swift or Schneider driver doesn't mean that driver is a rookie. I don't know how either of those companies do it, but in some cases I've seen drivers that have been with either for years. And I do this often as my truck is governed at 59. If I'm next to another truck for a long period of time, I let off the fuel. And what you said about Swifty waiting a few minutes doesn't make any sense. That basically means that Swifty stays in the right lane and isn't allowed to make a pass.

Here we go again. About once a month, someone complains about this....

If someone decides to use their high beams to flash me over they could be in for a surprise, my headache rack is quite shinney, or should I say mirror like. I took the picture below this morning, it is a reflection, note the airlines.

I also have a very bright pair of load lights as a option, flash away

When I am crusing along at 62 MPH and someone is passing me at 63 I wait until they are almost past or traffic starts to back up I put my right foot down and and get away from them, saves me from having to decide to flash or not to flash. -
You act like driving is some big deal. I have never worked for anyone but myself. I dont just do the easy on road truck driving. I could never work for someone else and do all the work and make them money. Some day you will grow up and realize its soo not that big of a deal, and just get on with your life. I guess when this is the big deal of your day obviously there is not much in your life. Now I will bow out of your crap and yield to the almighty. I am done with this thread and you are all knowing and perfect. I am so lucky to have you here to correct me. Thank you for your presence.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 11, 2013

So are you calling me a liar then? Comments like this are the exact reason why I won't help out another driver. You expect it, and get your panties in a bunch when it doesn't happen. If you can't figure out when it's safe to merge lanes without the 'help' of another driver, you don't need to be driving. You bash me, then complain about respect being lost? That's quite hypocritical if you ask me. Also do note that I'm a local driver, and there aren't too many places I go where the speedlimit is higher than 50mph. So, if you pass me that means you're speeding more than 5mph over the limit. If you think speedlimits don't apply to you and you wont show me or any other driver the courtesy of slowing down and sharing the road, what on Gods green earth makes you think I'm going to give you any respect? Respect is earned and not given.Last edited: Apr 7, 2013

You guys need to receive a notification from someone else that it's ok to change lanes? Huh? I would NEVER rely on that, or trust anyone to do it. When I clear a truck, I know when it's ok to change. Wow. And I drive a truck about 1 day per week, lol.
Ghost Ryder and cetanediesel Thank this.
