So after phase 2, it may be a good idea for one to do the phase 2 lead and then the phase 2 first seat? Total 6 months or there about.
Just checked their site again. So its...Phase 1 Go out with a trainer for a month or 180 hours. Not sure about the 180 hours. Is that correct?
Phase 2...2nd seat. A month and a half. You're driving with someone who has a little more experience than you, correct?
Phase 2 lead...You're in charge of the other driver who is a phase 2 2nd seat?
Advanced lead...
So why would anyone who wants to go solo do the phase 2 lead and then the advanced lead since both of those requires one to be in the truck with another driver? Do you think the company tries and nicely force one to do the other phase 2's before they go solo?
Better for the company it sounds like because they can make more deliveries. Better for the drivers in a way because they can also make more money, correct?

Just reviewed the site again. Looks like one MAY need 6 months experience before going solo or dedicated. So one would HAVE to do the total training deal. Phase 1...Phase 2...Phase 2 lead...Advanced lead. After all of those one should be hitting the 6 month mark.
It was saying that the drivers get 28 cents per mile...split. Does that word split mean that EACH driver gets 14 cents per mile or EACH driver gets 28 cents per mile? Sorry for my ignorance, I just want to know as much as possible before applying.Ooops Thanks this. -

As far as going team...it's not a requirement to follow the phase 2 lead, phase 2 advanced lead path. You can go straight to team after you complete phase 2
Solo...I'm not sure.
I have been told, all those "rules" are more or less guidelines, lol. If there is an opening somewhere and you don't have the 4-6 months in service, your "record" can bypass that requirement.
Same thing with the "waiting lists" for jobs/routes. You can skip over or be skipped over...depending on your "record".The Professional One Thanks this. -
The truck makes 28cpm. You get paid all miles. *only when running teams.
If you solo in the truck. Driver makes 25cpm.The Professional One Thanks this. -
Well, been in Phase two for about 12 days...in Georgia picking up a load and headed to Laredo. I'll be over my 100 hours required for upgrade to phase 2 lead when we get there. Be nice if I could go ahead and get my upgrade knocked out.
My Phase 2 First Seat...the guy that's suppose to be the "lead" is a collosal F'up. Logs are ALWAYS inaccurate, doesn't manage his sleep, drives short shifts, now he's made us late for a drop and subsequently a pick up.
I've got hometime coming up on 2/16-2/17 and I'm glad of it. Patience are wearing thin right now.The Professional One Thanks this. -
Go over knight Transportation when you're on your home time (if you get your home time)..
*in order for me to get my home time. I actually had to get out of the truck in St.Louis on the actual day on my home time was to start, then take amtrak to PA on my dime. -
If it looks like they're not gonna get me home inside the 2/16-2/17 window THEY approved already I'm gonna raise hell and high water...call every person in the C.O.C. Lol.
I had great schooling, great backing and road instructors, and a great Driver Trainer and Phase 1 went fine. The way I'm gonna look at all this RIGHT NOW is that I got unlucky with my assigned Phased 2 lead...it can happen I guess. I'll stay optimistic until Its time for me to get my home time and upgrade....but C.R. England is on a short leash, lol.The Professional One Thanks this. -

A Driver Trainer has AT LEAST 6 months in the seat....and has been through special training. I know...6 months ain't much, but it's more than 1 1/2 or 2, lol. His job is to fine tune the students driving skills, teach safety, etc.
In Phase 2 it's not the Phase 2 Leads job to teach you to drive. Just to basically manage the truck. Get loads picked up on time, trip plan, get them delivered on time, etc. A Phase 2 lead is just a mentor basically.
But Honestly, the guy I was just with was just a young guy with no communication skills, no confidence, no common sense...and no self control, lol. He couldn't manage his sleep, ran short shifts, messed up his logs constantly...just a mess.
I told my DM I wanted off the truck in Laredo...but thought about it a bit and decided I wouldn't do that to him. I told him I'd stick it out till my upgrade or hometime, whichever comes first. Well...he got me off the truck in Laredo anyway. I'll be doing my upgrade to Phase 2 lead Tuesday or Wednesday then catch a short load to Fort Worth for my home time. After that...back on the road as a Phase 2 lead. The Professional One and p608 Thank this.
