To anyone driving on I-20 westbound Texas, the bridge is being repaired due to a vehicle crashing into the support pillars. Damage was severe enough that the road above deformed from the impact and all westbound traffic is being diverted around it. Eastbound traffic is unaffected unless you are coming from the US-84 getting on to I-20 eastbound.

I wonder if the truck driver survived the crash after hitting 2 of the 3 support columns.

First observed on the 28th as I was heading to Arlington at night and again heading westbound. Last time I passed through there some metal scaffolding had been setup to hold up the remaining sections of the bridge(I think).

Brutal impact. Overpasses aren't cheap. Assuming both men survived and 1 is unemployed.

I go through there quite a bit and I'd be willing to bet a couple or 3 trucks at least drove over that bridge in the time it took to close it. Scary thought. Wonder if they will repair or replace it? It's an original bridge that was built in the early 60's when I-20 was built through the area and it's one of those annoying ramps that puts 84 east traffic right into the left lane of an 80 mph highway.

Had to be a hellofa hit too. Can't be much left of the truck. Article says they already let a 135k contract to repair the damage so no, no new bridge.

Teams, ah yes. A former co-worker is dead because of teams. Part his fault too, restraint belt wasn't up in the bunk when they flipped and he knew better. Doesn't change anything, just sayin......

That bridge was about ready to fall no way a truck can do that much damage and the driver live. I have seen trucks hit bridge supports and not even damage them but kill the driver
