This weeks has been another one of those frustrating ones. I lost a day waiting for a load up in PA (big surprise) and have been getting a string of less than productive load. There have been times when I wanted to pull my hair out.
I had planned on staying out a little longer but decided to pull out the "hometime" card to kick things into gear and is seems to be doing the trick. I've been getting closer to AZ with each load and I'm currently putting in a reset and will deliver this load late Monday morning. I don't really need the reset at this moment and have 10hrs available today, but if I pull out today I will be looking at a 1 1/2 hr day on Tuesday. So I'll suck it up today and have a fresh 70hrs to make sure I get home without running into the "no hours" problem while en route like I did last time around. I actually had to shut down at noon when I was less than 200 miles from home.
All in all, it wasn't all that bad of a week and I will close it out with 2900mi or so. Not great, but considering the way the week started it could have turned out really bad.

Ever, our experience with reefer is different than yours. The last company we drove for, we did have some late night deliveries. But we were not allowed to unload which is fine. My husband has recently left the company for a local job.... he's a tanker now and gets to come home most nights.
Has Crete policy changed at all regarding Per Diem? The company we drove for is forcing Per Diem on ALL drivers... There is no choice now as we opted out on it before. That's one of the reasons why my husband left.

As far as the TV thing, I have tried an extra digital antenna, both with and without tying it in with the trucks built in... Same problem. The traffic in the truck stop has an effect on how good it comes in, it blinks out and in as trucks pass in front of you.-sort'a like the way a satellite system does when it's about to rain hard.
Inverters... There are a few exceptions I have run into. If your doctor has you on a special diet,-like for major weight loss or diabetes- and signs a request for it, you can have an inverter installed in your truck...at your cost. But it isn't put in for simple driver comfort or convenience. They use to put in inverters for drivers with CPAP machines, but more of the newer reliable 12v CPAP's are on the market, so I don't know if they still do that for CPAP's. And I'm not sure about the hiring of drivers w/preexisting sleep apnea right now.
As for me, I feel better, but I don't like what these med's do to me, I'll be glad when the last one's gone. I've never been a big fan of legal drug pushers a.k.a. Doctors... And I hate taking med's because usually dealing with side effects is more of a hassle than the condition they were prescribed to cure/prevent in the 1st place. This stuff makes my lips and tongue tingle and gives me a general 'lazy' feeling, not to enthused about getting my butt up and rolling. Plus it compromises your immune system, just what I need with the flu season starting, plus with all the Swine flu popping up...I don't need this.
My week didn't start out too good, and hasn't gotten much better. Started out on Thursday morning, got the 'very short freight' message. But when you're sitting at home, that's not as bad as sitting in PA, I guess. So, since I had some decent weeks prior, and I had already run 1000 miles to get home, I wasn't too pushey. I told them I didn't have to have anything that delivered this week, I was ok with something that carried over....Which worked, I got a load that delivered this week. A load to SC for an ASAP delivery, then from south of Spartanburg to Detroit, but it delivers Monday. (but since I'm having a case of lazy butt because of my meds, I'll just roll with it)
For my year(anniversary, not calendar)which ends on Thanksgiving, I will be in the 110,000mi area. Which is much better than I had though even a few pages ago. I was worried about clearing 100,000 mi.The Stump Guy Thanks this. -

As far as per-diem... nothing has changed yet...and I hope it doesn't, it involves too much extra figuring when it come to tax time. -
Noob to the board and to trucking. Been reading thru this thread for the last three weeks and wanted to thank ET SS and everyone else for all the great posts and info. Just graduated from kindergarden at Waco mid-October and got accepted with Crete last week. Scrambled to get started on the Haz-Mat and will be talking with someone today to go from here. I live in the Ft Worth area and was told they would setme up with a trainer out of the Wilmer terminal just as soon as they can. I really am excited about getting started and thanks to you guys I feel like I am not walkin in completely blind. On to First grade!
