CRETE - A Year in Review

Greetings gang.

ET, thanks for the G'pa congrats...glad to see you're still around. Knew you were on vacation, but after your last post, they had that sandstorm wreck out there... thought you mighta' been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As for me and my miles...the heading says it all. Left the day after Christmas...and as of the 8th, I have only had 1 snafu...and it wasn't anything Crete did. I ended up sitting at the K/C paper whse in mobile 12 hrs, then had them cancel the load. I've been here 6 yrs, and until I read an earlier post about it, I hadn't ever heard about turning in paperwork with 'equipment ordered but not used' charges...until now. Even w/that delay, I turned 2600+ last week and 2900 this week(with 2 shag's to boot). But, I'm in Harrisburg on a Friday nite... So we'll see if all good thing come to an end.

(Psssssst don't tell anybody, but I haven't even had to bat an eye at anyone in OP's since I went home for Christmas. Quietest stretch I've had in I don't know how long)

Seen a bunch of the cold and snow(sorry-didnt mean to use a offensive 4 letter word like that) bunk heater has been keeping up all the way to 0 so far. It's been in upper teen at home. Wind chill Sat morning is suppose to be in the low teens... Whew...so much for global warming

I have had the same thing happen to me trying to get out after home time... seems like I cant get home and then cant get out when I do. just had my 1 year anniversery and was told that I wouldnt get my anual increase cause was 2000 miles short even though I ran all but 41 days last year. Not real happy right now but undecided on what to do. Doesnt seem like Brett is really cares, I dont know?

 

I live near I-5 in Washington and am interested in Crete.They seem to be very active up here. Problem is experience, I've been driving for nearly 20 years but 19 as a local driver in Washington and Oregon. No tickets ever and my last chargeable was over 12 years ago. I have my Hazmat endorsement and my enhanced drivers license for entrance into Canada. Do you think they would be interested?

 

I think they would be interested in someone with your experience. However, they will probably want you to go with a trainer for 2-4 weeks due to lack of "otr" experience. The problem for you may be you home 20, as I don't think they are looking for drivers in that area right now due to the economy. It won't hurt to call though.

 

I'm Making some assumptions here.Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of them.
(1) Permits cost money.

(2) A small percentage of trips end or originate in Oregon.

(3) Crete managment , despite all the seemingly stupid decisions , have ultimately made decisions which result in a succesful and profitable trucking company,or so we are told.

(4) The above mentioned Crete management concluded that it does not make good business sense to pay for permits for probably 4000 trucks,when in all probability, most of those trucks will end up not needing those permits.

Those are my 4 assumptions. Please correct me if I am wrong on any of them.

Having said that, I see nothing either ridiculous or stupid about the decision, but then again, I am not a know it all, I am not one of the entitled ones, nor I am not one of those who seem to get a kick out of constantly complaining.

It won't be burdensome for me to get a fax # from a truck stop, make a call to the company,and have the permit faxed to me. That worked each of the nearly half a dozen times I've picked up a trailer which had its registration missing. And yes, I send in the receipt for the dollar or whatever I pay to receive the fax, with my transflo when I send in my bills and logs. For what its worth, putting on and taking of the enforcer and air brake locks also take an extremely small amount of effort on my part. Apparently that is a great burden for some people.

If I needed to constantly complain and describe the company I work for as being inept,or stupid , a company by the way which describes itself as being solid,successful and debt free , and if I had the answer to every thing, I would be running my own solid and successful,if not debt free truck company, or at least a truck, if for no other reason, to show them how things should be done. But as I said above, I'm not a know it all,I am not entitled , the universe does not owe me a single thing , and I don't get up out of bed or my truck bunk every day hoping for something to go wrong just so I can take pleasure in whining.

I might be wrong for this, but I hope Crete institutes some more 'ridiculous' & 'stupid' decisions. Because I know it will make some people mad. Remember ending the pet policy , even though drivers already employed got to keep their pets? Remember cutting speed from 65 to 62 mph? Oh the inhumanity. Oh the enormous burden placed on the poor drivers. Actually, I can't really say I have been affected by these or other 'stupid' decisions that Crete has made, but for certain people,it was as if the world was coming to an end. Even one goodly gentleman who admitted not having a pet raised a stink about the new pet policy on some other board when the pet policy was changed a year or so ago.

What I wish Crete would do however is allow drivers to split our 10 hour break on our logs.

If making 'stupid' and 'ridiculous' decisions contribute ,in even the most minute way, to my employer,whoever they might be, not going the way of arrow or priority or jevic or any of the number of companies that have gone under,then by all means, bring on the 'stupid' & 'ridiculous' decisions.

Is the problem having to get the permit faxed or having to REMEMBER to call them to have it faxed? If it is the latter, then I can understand where you are coming from. My memory is going as well. I wish Crete would do their job and help us to remember things ,for ,as entitled as we are, somebody else always owes us some obligation.

 

Here we go again. You haven't been around in months and when you do show up you attack just my posts? Interesting. No self control on your part, eh? If you had a history of posting on this thread other things having nothing to do with what I have say you might be taken more seriously. But sadly you seem to have a sick obsession with me. Getting a little lonely on the road is it? Not that for one minute do I believe you are a driver, for Crete or anybody else.

I wrote about 11 paragraphs and you either could not, would not or can not attack anything I said. Instead you focus your attention on me,instead of what I said.

I had no doubt you would have done that.

I just won some imaginarey money in an imaginary bet against myself that that is exactly what you would have done.

Self control on my part? I have lots of that,but I know ,by the tone of each of your posts how much you relish being miserable and having something to gripe about, so I did all this just to make you happy/miserable.

Now that that is out of the way I look forward to your addressing my post,but I'm not holding my breath.

If it will make you miserable/happy , I hope Crete cuts the trucks back to 60 mph.

I would tell ypou to have a nice day, but I suspect you are incapable of doing that.

For What its worth, I do drive for Crete, as if that makes a difference to my post.I'm at TA in Oklahoma City ,en route to Socorro Tx. Nice long run, the kind some people think they should get all the time.Just about to unhook from Idle Aire . And since I'm not of an entitlement ,welfare,the world owes me mentality like someone we both know, I pay for Idle Aire out of my pocket,without hesitation.Its my comfort.Its my responsibility.

By the way. These Cascadias have more room than the centuries. At least to me they do.

You know, there is a section on this board called report a bad company. You might consider starting a thread there.You seem to be concerned about me not being taken seriously. If you started a thread there, maybe you would be taken more seriously than you think you are taken.

Again I look forward to your usually eloquent refuttal of my post,instead of wasting time giving me all your attention,but again,I wont hold my breathe.

May Crete management continue to make 'ridiculous' and 'stupid' decisions.So far those decisions seem to be saving me ,and others, our jobs,and unlike many other companies,I haven't had to take a pay cut,and as an extra bonus, these decisions seem to make you miserable. Icing on the cake. I bet you think those decisions are taken specifically to upset you personally.
