Hauling containers is all about hustle. You dont sit still. The containers themselves are heavy and the customers for the most part are small businesses, not the DC's that we are used to delivering to.
Ive never seen as much hazmat as I have this past week, and the entire setting is fairly dangerous.
So does that give you any idea about ports and containers? LOL

ET, As many have said, this has been one of the best threads on this board. As one that has walked away from the white shirt and tie, airport terminals and sales meetings, keep it real and keep real to yourself.

Those at Crete that are on the e-log...did you read the msg on Crete's website about getting your logs from Qualcomm for taxes?? If not, you better hurry, the msg said that q'comm only files them for 6 mos, and it's up to the driver to retrieve them, it's almost the end of June, did we get our logs downloaded? Just a friendly reminder...
wulfman75 Thanks this. -
with et gone, my avg miles are bound to improve... Since he was always hogging all the miles

Just wondering...did you have to get TWIC'd...if so, did Crete compensate your expense for it like they do for the hazmat endorsement?
-
Just got word yesterday that they are disbanding the "temp fleet help" Evidently there's not enough freight for all. Since I have my TWIC card, they are keeping me on as "Temporary Permanent" make sense? Lol
Crete is trying to buld up this fleet. They have the notion that guys would come and join up...taking a cut in pay. I think start pay is .37 or .38 and tops out at .40.
Since I am a temp status I keep my otr rate.

It's been a year or so since I last visited our North Salt Lake City,UT terminal.....WOW! What a positive change in driver amenities and yard neatness. The only issue is that there are 3 showers but only 1 can be used as such. One is out of order and the other must remain open to be use as the public restroom.
The driver's lounge is no longer a worn out couch, wobbly coffee table, and small dining table used as a desk. They have enlarged the area by opening up the upstairs by means of creating a door way that opens into a large room complete with new furnishings and flat panel tv. There is a vending area, nice counter top with complimentary coffee, two new washers and dryer, and a phone/computer room.
A party THANK YOU to who ever got this done.
On a side note, I'm currently at the terminal till later this evening when the part to fix my truck is supposed to arrive. One of the cab air bags developed a sever leak. -
Good luck getting it done right...those morons will probably try to install it behind the front bumper...I wouldn't trust those idiots to fix a broken down weed eater

Spoken like the SS we all know and love.

Unfortunately you may be right. The problem was diagnosed late last night. Not only did they affirm what I already knew about the leaking cab air bag, they also showed me where air was leaking around the quick-connects on the air tanks. They asked if I wanted them to stop those leaks. So I says yes. WELL...... after about an hour they tell me their done until cab air bag arrives tomorrow, but when I parked against the fence and inspect their handy work I find a leak that wasn't there before. It was easy enough to fix on my own simply by pushing in the air line a little further into the quick-connect fitting.
So, I too hope they can get the air bag replaced properly. -
Old Soldier saying, "Hope in one hand, crap in the other and lets see which one fills up first".
Check the work when they're done, if not correct call them over.
