I have to say, my June isn't as bad as I thought...when I got the numbers plugged into my spreadsheet, they're not too bad. As of the load I'm delivering on the 29th, I'll have 10885 for the month, and 26475 for the quarter, but this quarter had my 2 week vacation in it, had I not done that, I could have been in the low 30k's or in the 31k range. Not ET-like miles...but not as bad as it felt like.

Normally I don't recommend any company I've worked for, I just regale someone with my experiences there and let them choose whether or not it's a good fit to their likes or dislikes. But since you're new to driving I'll say this much, Crete isn't a bad place to start out. They're a financially solid company with a good CSA score so the DOT doesn't bother you much. Crete, like many companies, has their own unique way of doing things. Assuming that your driving school is one of the 'approved' schools, without experience, you will have to go with a trainer if Crete accepts you, and since ET isn't here training and posting, I'm not sure who or how good that training will go. (but don't tell Crete I said that, or that I actually said something nice about them, Lincoln will think I've lost my mind and schedule my psych evaluation :biggrin_25517:)

You know if you hadn't spent so much time this quarter hanging about the company shops you probably could have still made the 30k+ mile mark. Slaker I tell you! :biggrin_255:

Yeah I know, but the duct tape and bungee cord expense was getting out of hand. I had to:biggrin_25523:..besides I make so many new friends while I'm getting blamed for so much. It gives me such a warm fuzzy feeling knowing I am doing my part here. I mean without people like me, the mechanics would be out of a job, since I'm such a novice screwup that they have to correct all the time.

How far away do you have to live from a terminal to get to take the truck home on home time?

You'd have to check w/recruiting on that one...I don't think it's a set in stone policy, but I could be wrong. I've heard of drivers from west of Ft. Worth being required to park at the terminal...but other terminals have drivers that live closer take their trucks home, as long as there is a secure place to park. I am 120mi away from my terminal, and have room for truck and trailer(and I even poured a concrete pad for landing gear) so I bring mine home. I guess that's one advantage of living in the sticks.

It sounds like your "mechanic" had a particle accelerator between his ears so everything you tried to tell him went in one ear and gained speed before it departed the other ear.

Just remember if SS helps you and you come to Crete, please list him as the source. Puts a little green in his sock and doesn't cost you anything. Good luck:biggrin_25525:

We don't need to go that far...after all, I told Lincoln that if they ever see my name or number on someones application, they need to schedule a meeting for me with a head shrink because I had obviously lost my mind...I mean, we wouldn't want to ruin my bad reputation here after all my hard work now would we?:biggrin_25517:

Well, this week wasn't as good as last week, I had 3528 last week, only 2749 this week that finaled out in n/e Mass. Then July is starting out lousy. Picked up a load out of Milford CT to Memphis, TN. 1336 miles, which on a single trip should be a good trip, except, because of the 4th, it delivers Wednesday, and I picked it up Friday afternoon. That's 5 days for 1336 miles. And since it's me, not ET, I'm willing to bet, no chance to t'call enroute, and after 6 weeks out, I am working going home next weekend, so it's not likely that I'll see at least 1200 miles in the remaining 3 days next week...with my luck, they'll get me a 500 mile run home, but not deliver until Sat, giving me 2 bad weeks in a row since hometime always screws up a paycheck.

Well Crete pulled a rabbit out of their hat...Weds morning, I delivered my 5 day run(4 1/2 really) in Memphis, that put me at 1336 miles. Between 8 am Weds and 5 pm Friday afternoon they got me another 1364 miles, so I ended up with just under 2700 for the week...much better than I had believed possible. I won't, however, be getting home this weekend like I had planned. Not that they couldn't have done it, it's just that I had my a/c go out at home along with a bunch of other things going on, and I forgot to send in my reminder msg to op's until Thurs late morning. I'll accept a late arrival at home without complaint...I can't BMW about 'them' when the only person I can blame stares me in the mirror every morning.

I did however have a go-round with op's the other day... I guess that this new 'answer quicker' trend had to take a pause. Dispatched on a load out of the W. Memphis drop yard to Garland, TX. But the load, that was suppose to have been there already, wasn't there. So, without explanation, I was voided...and sat, and sat and sat. Numerous messages having been sent from me, without any word, offer, reply...nada. Talked to another Crete that pulled in, and he was offered the same load I was voided on...but it still wasn't anywhere to be found...before he could question it, a 2nd offer was sent to him...and away he went, meanwhile I'm still sitting. Over an hour, and many, shall we say, less than pleasant messages to op's went without a word. So I picked an empty, informed dispatch that I was done for a while, headed for a truck stop, and would message them when I was ready...in a couple days. Nothing.... They finally got around to answering me with a load offer that p/u at 7am south of Memphis, going to Ottawa, KS that needed to be delivered before 2 pm, the same day. They couldn't understand why I couldn't make it. Ummmm lets see, loaded miles are 482, I drive a 61.3 mph truck...that means 8.25 hrs of drive time...7 am + 8 hrs = 3 pm if I'm loaded in 5 minutes, there is no traffic, and I don't stop to pee(or anything else). I guess they don't teach math at Nebraska U. They finally said, get it there asap. So after a 1 1/2 hr load, I managed to get it there by 5pm. Now I'm on a load from Trenton MO to Vonore TN for Monday. Good thing too, since my visit to purgatory last week, the alignment is screwed up on my truck, the right front tire is wearing the outside tread out real quick.
