I don't know if that's a good thing. DEF trucks have less EGR gasses being pumped in which means better running, better power, better mileage and no parked regen's. Kinda a bonus for the extra pumping. Would suck if you're a reefer hauler, pump diesel in truck, hang up diesel handle, pick up DEF handle, fill DEF tank then pull up to top off reefer tank w/diesel. Just wait unil the Communist Commonwealth of CA forces reefer units to have to use DEF too. 4 fill-ups at one stop. Will have to start adding fuel lanes, it'll take 30 actual minutes.
I made it to K/C with my heavy load. Only one hill slowed me down to drop one gear. And only the last 75 yds of it too boot. I am officially impressed with how strong these things are. But I had better watch mouth, if Crete finds out how good it pulls, and how happy I am w/it, they'll get out the computerized knife and chop out it's -you know what's-
Now I'm on a 2 stop load out of K/C, KS going to northern IL. I guess the driver was having one of my type days, got PO'd(and maybe ran out of hours),dropped the trailer at the fiberglass warehouse and left. They bobtailed me over to cover his load. Will put me at almost 2900 miles for a holiday week. Not sure if they're going to get me home in/on time this time...wanted to be home Saturday, but load finals north of Chicago Friday afternoon.
I guess ET's get home more often plan does work...or else it just re-aligns you to the good freight cycle, putting you back in the right place, at the right time. -
SS,
Good to see that so far your Pro Star is doing the job. My company is issuing new Kenworths and Pro Stars, about 50-50. So far the PS's are getting a bad reputation for being "hanger queens" because they really seem to like being in the shop. All the electronics seem to enjoy frequently turning on the dashboard alarm lights...We don't have On Guard.
Do your new Pro Stars still have 2 axle drive? Our company is issuing new tractors with single axle drive and tag axles, which everyone hates. We're predicting big winter driving issues with this new set up. I feel safe in my old 2 axle drive, 13 speed KW.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Allow extra driving space this holiday weekend and watch out for the idiots out here.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone...hope it finds you home getting stuffed. And for those of us out here over the holidays, Thanks for staying out over the holiday so others could be at home with family and friends today!
Rattlebunny and jdrentzjr Thank this. -
SS yeah these Prostars pull like an ox. I LOVE taking a container thats not 45K up and down the Pa hills. Anything less than 33K and its like Im mt.

Our's still have 2 drive axles. I hear other drivers talking about more and more companies going single drive and tag. Have talked to a couple CFI/Conway drivers that came over here talk about them. One driver, before they put a dump valve on the tag, said his truck would get stuck on an uneven fuel island. Ours not only have the diff lock, but have a 'mud/snow' traction control switch.
The only issue I am having (other than a chattering throw-out bearing) is a little chugity- chugity every once in a while after you start the truck, idle for a second or two, release the brakes(on our new trailers, wait 5 seconds for them to release) and then start rolling. It'll chug a few times like it isn't getting enough fuel, but then pick up and go. It'll happen whether the engine is hot or cold, or whether it warm or cold outside. I checked the fuel filter, and the fuel level is up already...perhaps because these trucks are delivered almost on fumes for fuel level, then they sit before being inspected, stickered and issued, I may have gotten some condensation in the tanks that the filter caught...I'll have to drain it down a little and see.
I wish we had 13 speeds over here...but many of our drivers would be lost trying to shift them. -
If anyone is thinking about using the camscanner app for paperwork...DO NOT DO IT. I dropped my aircard off my cell account and was relying on camscanner for a backup in case I didn't get to a transflow in time. I had to use it last night...got a msg this morning, only received 1 page of the 13 I sent...I did it just as the instructions said to do...I don't know if I'll be paid for it or not until next week...either way, Crete just wasted some money on me...the app that they reimbursed me for is HISTORY. I'd rather invest my money on a fax than to trust any android app for my payday.
-
Well thx 4 the info I thought about gettn it tell I seen it cost so I said forget it will just have 2 wait until I get thru a transflo, ontop of that if it don't even work wow
-
I was thinking about doing the app, but just decided to do everything I can to get to a Transflo. I agree with your thinking about a fax. I have been looking at a scanner/fax and an aircard. I'll wait til I get my own truck.
