Well, once I leave out this next time, I will once again be equipped with a smart phone. So keeping up with my post's will be on an a more normal schedule.(which might not be a good thing, now when they pizz me off...I can post here right away instead of letting it cool a bit when I had to hunt for free WIFI) For those radio talk show hosts that claim that insuring your phone is a waste of money...I say (to quote Click and Clack the Car Talk guy's) Booooooooooooogus!!!!!!!! I have had insurance on every one of my smart phones(even the Blackberry). The last 2 Thunderbolts will have been replaced by the insurance policy. So, 6 years @ $4/month then $100 deductible is still cheaper than paying full retail price for 1 new $600 smart phone. Even though they send used certified refirb phones...it is still cheaper. The only way I could have gotten one without insurance any cheaper is off of e-bay or craigslist...then it's pot luck if they work right or not. If I get it through the phone plan, it has a warrantee.

LOL, I only just got caught up on this forum. Your writing style is so great, reminds me of that humorist Dave Barry. I thought I was the only one having a string of bad luck. I was almost fired last week after a back and forth argument with dispatch. They t-called my load, then told me there was no freight aft I dropped it. Of course the whole reason for the t-call was so I could keep running over the weekend instead of sitting for a Monday delivery. There were several more absurd things that dispatch did and I finally blew my top. I didn't swear or anything, but I guess they thought I was too disrespectful. Had to go to a pay phone (I don't have cell) and get chewed out on a conference call with some office people. I didn't react to their insults, so they kept repeating again and again. Anyways, love reading all your experiences.

Really appreciate this post of yours. I am in the market for a new company and I have seen several Crete trucks with very high years with the company, and million mile drivers, so I figured it must be pretty good.

I am looking for a company that allows a dog and I see yours does, and am happy to find a statisfied driver from them with actually proof so I know that your experience is a good one to base a possible choice off of, rather than others who simply say they love or hate without giving examples as to why.

That is some pretty darn good pay too! :) I am gonna fill out an application right meow!

Thanks again. This really helps a lot.

Hey folks, quick update. I'm officially no longer a Cretin. I was in Marietta a couple of weeks ago having them take their lettering and QualComm out. I attended orientation at Landstar last week in Jefferson, GA (the orientation center is across from the Freightliner dealer there). Lots of info, most of which sounded like they really wanted to be helpful. And they bring in catered lunch there every weekday - from Sonny's (a chain of pretty good BBQ joints). They put me up in a roach motel. Then I waited a day or so for a trailer, but it did come with a load to Mechanicsville, VA that paid $2.42/mile gross :)

Anyway, I'm about to shut my eyes for a few hours then head out. Got a good paying load from Baltimore to Billings, then I'll probably end up with either a cheap load to Oregon and a high-dollar load towards home, or a mid-priced load to western PA, putter around OH/IN/IL for a few days then go home. Y'all have fun!

That one was $2/mile linehaul (I get 65% of that) plus $0.42/mile fuel surcharge (I get 100% of that). So $1.72/mile to the truck. At Crete, a load going the same distance would have paid me about $1.45/mile including fuel surcharge. FSC on it was low, but the much higher linehaul helped. The load I'm on now pays $2.33/mile gross, but $0.53/mile is FSC.

Not to mention no micro-management, nobody looking over your shoulder waiting for you to screw up.

I tell ya'll what, that system upgrade last month has screwed something up. I checked my MMR for October...it shows I was in the 4000's for May, 0 for June and July and in the 4000's for August. Anyone else check their MMR lately?
